Stardew turns toward Aiday.
"Wanderlust," Stardew says, shrugging. "Always in search of a new adrenaline kick."
She extended her hand. "Stardew Avalon. And you are?"
Nevihata took note of the newcomers. “What is this, a party of some sorts?” He turned around.
The offspring of the creature had stood up, to only have someone run right into it. The young thing gave a soft snort, all four blue eyes coming to rest on the short, elven looking male before it. The creature tilted its head, giving a questioning chirrup, quite curious of this new and possible potential playmate.
[amrua's hard expression melted as he noticed the critter staring at him. he immediately crouched a bit, making a soft chirrup back]
The small thing instantly gave what could only be described as a 'happy sound'. It reared backwards to stand on its back legs, shorter middle limbs tucked close to its stomach, the final pair up and pawing the air. Its tail swayed back and forth, nearly losing its balance, but still somehow managing.
As for its parent, the beast paused, hearing the sounds of its young. The larger beast turned its heavy horned head to see what its little one was doing, seeing it was currently trying to play with the newest stranger. All four of the creature's blue eyes narrowed.
The deep voice resonated, "Gentle…play? Little one get rough, but no harm…"
[amrua cracked a thin smile and nodded. he then stood all the way up, jumping a little on the balls on his feet and waiting to see the kind of play the little beast wanted to do]
"Hbduh! Whuh?! Wh– WHY ARE THERE SO MANY PEOPLE HERE?" Guinevere boomed. She made sure that her attention was away from the little creature, but it couldn't help wincing at the sound of her voice and looking towards its mother for comfort. Guinevere began pacing back and forth, thinking aloud.
"And here I thought this was gonna be an easy job! Protect two little girls, one's armed, the other's a werewolf! "Real docile and cute,' they said! 'Hide in the mansion twenty miles north with the Boss until the contact arrives, easiest 200 gold you'll ever make,' they said! Now I've got ten other folks just passing through and a lizard with a baby, deciding to just MOSEY on over and have a chat!" She continued to grumble like this, much quieter now. She stopped after a few seconds, turning her attention to the woods around the group.
"IS THERE ANYONE ELSE HIDING IN THE BUSHES AROUND HERE?!" she called out, her dark face almost as red as her hair.
[amrua chuckled darkly, shrugging]
a: "probably"
Stardew turned to the bushes by her. "Probably should come out now, guys."
"Darn," a voice says, and two young men scramble out. They bow to Guinevere, grinning.
[amrua snickers and turns back to the young creature]
The large beast seemed to relax at the other's response. Though its form went on full alert again at the sudden outburst of the female. It looked over, blue eyes dimming down.
As for its little one, it seemed even more happy to know that it was being allowed to play. Though at the sudden loud voice, the creature dropped to all six limbs, tail tucking between its legs. It backed up until its backend was resting against its parent. At the soft, comforting rumble of the parent though, seemed to reassure it.
The offspring turned its attention back to the male. It released another chirrup, thin trails of blue mist rising from its nostrils. It very lightly batted at the other. It seemed to know the other wasn't another creature like itself, so would most likely be more fragile than it. Least that was the way the little thing saw it.
[amrua let a hoarse, high laugh loose, gently swatting back. then a mimicing chirrup again. he decided to experiment, giving a series of bright trills, churrs, and chirps]
Raven tried to hide a snicker, but nevertheless received a glare from her "guardian".
"Remind me again why you're 'protecting us'? And why you didn't bother telling me about her?" She guestered at Aiday.
Guinevere, at first annoyed by the other people who also appeared from the shrubbery, decided her efforts were best focused on simply trying to adapt. A few deep breaths later, she tackled the first order of business: the little girls.
"I have no clue why I'm protecting you. All I really care about is the reward money at the end, and as annoying as situations like this can get I am contractually obligated to care for your existence and make sure that you two have nary a scratch on you when we arrive at our destination. We picked up Aiday in a different town from where got you, but she's been only a few steps behind us at this point. I'm not expecting you two to be bestest buddies, but I'm surprised you only formally met her a few minutes ago."
"Hey, Aiday's great. Trusting, yes, but still great. Who do you work for anyway?" Raven was beyond the point of being comforted by the woman. She did believe that Guinevere would protect her, but she didn't really care about them. Just her money, which was getting tiring. "New people, hello. I'm Raven, I'm a werewolf, I know as little as you at the moment, and I do have a gun. Be warned," she said, shifting her attention to the newcomers.
"I think at this point we've established that we're all armed and/or dangerous but don't actually want to fight," Guinevere said, placing her hands on her hips. "As for my boss, I can't actually tell you their name. I have no idea who they are. I've seen them in person, know their voice, but they've been using a fake name this whole time. I'm sure you're aware of one of the more famous officers in the Hunter's Guild? Felcote? The literal cat in a trenchcoat?"
Stardew shrugged. "I'm afraid I haven't heard of the Hunter's Guild, sorry. Hello there, Raven. I'm Stardew Avalon, as you probably heard, and this is my twin brother Foxglove Petrol" – she clapped Foxglove's shoulder – "and Trouble Ruffian de Melange." She nodded towards the other Alnaschari. "What brings you all here?"
"I'm capable of speaking for myself, you know," Trouble said.
Stardew cast him a look. "Oh yes, declaim at them in villain prose. I'm sure that'll get you off on the right foot."
Nevihata had taken to leaning against a tree, seeming to be holding and looking at a pistol like weapon, also confirming that he too had weaponry. He glanced up.
“I suppose I’ll tell you guys my name. I’m Nevihata..not telling you my last name. I just came here after I heard voices,” and after tracking the group for a while, but he decided not to mention that, “and this,” he gestured towards his ‘pistol’, “I’d like to clarify this isn’t my only weapon.”
"Gee, that's comforting," Raven said sarcastically. "I think we all have more than one weapon. No fighting, though. I'm a strictly non-violent werewolf."
Stardew unsheathed her sword and tossed it up in the air.
"By 'no fighting', do you mean 'no fighting you', or just a blanket statement?"
"In general. Because if you start fighting, I'll have to start fighting. No fighting."
Stardew turns toward Aiday.
"Wanderlust," Stardew says, shrugging. "Always in search of a new adrenaline kick."
She extended her hand. "Stardew Avalon. And you are?"
(Assume she introduced herself in the past because lots of comments.)
"I have only one weapon," Aiday said, holding up a small dagger, shorter than her hand. "But I prefer not to fight. Peacefulness is always the best alternative."
(Hey Yamatsu. How is Aiday under Guinevere's protection?)
