The voice decided to speak once more, "Now you know each other, the important part now is to get everything off your chest, all the bad in your life, let it go." Ivana rolled her eyes at it but knew she'll had to do it at some point.
The voice decided to speak once more, "Now you know each other, the important part now is to get everything off your chest, all the bad in your life, let it go." Ivana rolled her eyes at it but knew she'll had to do it at some point.
Boar-back glanced up resignedly. "Well….all right then. Who's going first?"
Since nobody was talking and someone needed to break the ice Ivanna decided to talk, "Well…" she ran her hands throug her hair in frustration and took a deep breath, "There´s this bastard, piece of human garbage if I can even call him human who just doomed my whole undead life and just dissapeared and has been dead for decades so I never got to make him suffer for what he did to me, the whole village I lived in decided to shoot me until they blew off parts of my body–" she gestured at the scars on her face that looked like they once had stiches, "–And I was even pregnant back then!" her voice cracked at that moment, "…My… my child, a boy, I somehow knew he was going to be a boy… My poor Alexei…" Ivanna covered her face with her hands and sigh, mumbling something under her breath in what appeared to be russian, "Anyways–" she look at the rest of the people around her, "–Who´s next?"
Ava looked at Ivanna and her eyebrows knit together. "I'm sorry for your loss," She whispered. "I'll go next. Two years ago all the other 13-year-olds in my district and I went on a retreat. there was a board that was supposed to watch us and then assign us a job based on our interests and skills. Everyone else already knew what they were going to be. My twin brother was convinced he was going to be chosen because that's supposed to happen with really smart people. It's rare but it happens. We were all shocked when I was chosen they didn't know- I didn't know what that really meant." Her voice cracked slightly. "I was then taken to a school where I was trained on how to be a wait or umm I think most of your time would call us maids. I was told it was because I was a peace breaker or broke the law. We were all punished at some points if you broke the rules. I was in the hole for almost 2 weeks once…but my girlfriend she took the fault for something really big. they sent her away a few weeks before I was assigned to my current home."
Ivanna looked at Ava and aproached her, kneeling and landing her hands on her shoulders, "You are strong, young one."
Ava looked up at her stopping herself last minute from flinching at the hand. "Thank you. you seem really amazing and strong too."
"Life makes us that way." She gave a little attempt at a smile, though difficult due to the scars across her mouth
Still in his snuggie and sipping his coco Tempest decided to speak up "Well…I guess I'll go next… as said before I'm 19 and the co-founder of Haven…but um well last week I oversaw a field mission that several members had gone to cut down the numbers of feral shadows in the local population. I should have gone…I always do. I had to help someone move into Haven though so I couldn't be there in person…ends up there were a lot more of those nasty things then we initially thought…no one's come back yet and I just…I'm starting to worry…those aren't just people I provide a home to but…friends." His eyes fell to the floor as the shame washes over him
Ivanna said nothing, she knew how it felt and even to this day she still blame herself for all the men and women she send to their death, but after some seconds she managed to say something, "You are brave." She quickly follow with what can be compared to a military salute except that instead of driving her hands to her head she drove a fist to her chest.
He just shook his head and the pendant around his neck was drained of color "No…how am I brave if I wasn't there for my people…my friends…if they went down I should have gone with them. I'm not sending anymore unless I can go to." he decided, making the cup of coco vanish.
"You are facing it, right? You made that organization and had the courage to do everything you have done up to this day, that makes you brave."
Saha glanced at everyone, listening in on their stories and whatnot. A lot of things were definitely..sad. She had no clue on what to say for the most part, as she was not good at offering comfort to others. The best she could do was..well, try her best.
“All of that is..very unfortunate. I’m sorry for what everyone here has to go through. It must be rough,” she spoke, pausing a few times to search for the right words.
“My species, the Ratrir, are quite different from humans. We do not have the same biology, though that is not my point here. We don’t really have the same morals. I’ve done things that have caused others to dislike me, to hate me, even fear me. Even the people I work with give me my space, because they ’don’t know when that Ratrir will go feral.’ They keep us working in their armies because Ratrirs are rather rare to come across in human civilization, and making anti-Ratrir weaponry is an expensive and time consuming task.”
“Because of our differences, cooperation is hard. They make choices I do not like. I make choices they do not like. And some of those choices - I still think of today. I’ve killed people, and for what reason? Because I was told to? Because I was told there were to be no witnesses? I am forced to work for them - essentially a slave of man, as my other Ratrir call me.” Taking a breath in, she continued.
“And to add onto that, Ratrir aren’t common in human civilization as I’ve mentioned before. We’re highly aggressive and solitary in the wild and stay away from others. When a Ratrir gets into civilization they are studied upon to develop better technology - often, in rather unethical ways.” Saha glanced at the floor.
"Humand are a mess…" Ivanna looked at Saha, "…Truly a mess, I can't apologize for everyone nor can I say I experienced the same as you…" she paused for a moment, thinking on what to say, "Humans fear what's different and you have put up with all of it, you have my respect."
Noah nodded in agreement before beginning her story. "I know nothing in my life can amount to the amount of pain you all have experienced, I'll share my story anyway. I was born to a relatively rich family, from what I've observed here it seems my world is different then yours, I think the geography is similar if not the same but our laws and species appear to be different. In my words select individuals are born with talents, the royal family for instance always has a special gift for music, other then the royals the selection of who get's what talent seems to be random. I have the unfortunate gift of predicting things. I was good at hiding my talent for quite a while, I managed to always stay out of trouble, the results of barters and war's never surprised me. When I ran away from my father the secret slipped out when I was among the bandits and they are not the most secretive folk when drink is involved. Soon it became pretty well known and I found that I had been kidnapped by a different group of bandit's they were far less kind to say the least." Noah's hands fiddle with her parasol as she spoke, it was clear sharing all of this made her quite uncomfortable. "When I was taken by this organization I was kept with another prisoner, Damien, he too had a gift, if he sang the right words with the right tune he could enhance emotions strengths and weaknesses. There were many nights when he hummed song's to ensure I slept well after a day of questions and beatings." Noah clenched the handle tight with both of her hands, "You see eventually I broke and when the organization discovered that I wasn't quite as useful as they thought me to be they used me for a different purpose, a few different purposes. The first made it so most men would refuse marriage with me. The second was as bate to get Damien to break. They used… various methods of harming me to convince him to use his ability for their own gain. We managed to escape before he broke. Much damage was done already, I doubt I'll ever be able to bear children safely. If you haven't already guessed, Damien was the second prince of the kingdom, his father found my gift more useful then the organization did and so allowed me to stay close to Damien. That is as long I permitted him to use it. My life has only improved sense then, so I can't complain." Noah finished her story then fell silent still fiddling with her parasol.
"That doesn't mean you have to ignore it all, just because something has improve doesn't mean the rest just dissapears…" Ivanna offered, not quite sure of what to say.
"I…I know how cruel people can be. The person who made feral shadows…Zerack…he's using our fallen…using people I know as his puppets. Even if they don't look like them I wonder with each sword strike: was this thing someone I knew at one time?" Tempest commented with an unhappy sigh
Boar-back gazed at Noah seriously. "As a bandit," he said quietly, "I can only try to apologize for what other guys like me have done to you. Nobody deserves a life like that, especially not at a young age. For what it's worth, you seem to be handling yourself surprisingly well, considering everything you've been through. But at the same time, I think it's like Ivanna said—getting this stuff off your chest can be really important sometimes."
Noah smiled lightly, "It's taken time to recover, it helps to have someone who can sing away your panic nearby." She smiled at Boar-back, "I thank you for your apology."
Boar-back nodded, then sighed. "Well….does anyone else want to go, then? Or is it my turn now?"
(I had my turn…it was just overlooked)
(Sorry Hybrid…. do you want to have your character talk more so we can respond properly? These topics are sensitive, I don't think anyone's story should be ignored)
(I may bring it back up in a little you guys can continue)
(okay, fair enough)
