Just to explain a bit. The investigation into Jacob's mom's disappearance has been halted unless some evidence or a sighting comes into play. John didn't want to upset Jacob….

Asking about mom's purse. Jacob wants the contents even though that would be cataloged as evidence. He thinks that the key to the mystery box might be in it.

I can't help but smile at Jacob doing a quick appearance check. Though I honestly don't think that Malini's the type that would worry about that in a possible love interest. I feel like she cares more about personality.

Yeah, it is odd how we notice things about a person that we're infatuated with that we usually wouldn't even think about.
