Violet sets her rag down and wipes her hands on her apron. "Yes? I think I could do that. I've done highlights on Cage before and they looked alright."
Gabriel creases his brow. "Cage has highlights?"
"Love, Cage's hair isn't even naturally blonde." She smiles.
Gabriel stares wide-eyed at the ground.
WHAT.
Cage giggle uncontrollably for a few seconds. "YES. Omg though. He's so scary to other people. They don't even believe we're related."
"What color is his real hair?" Silver asked. "Wouldn't it be like dark brown? Oh my woooord, he would look so strange with dark hair." she turned to Gabriel. "Gabe, what if I did, like, white hair with blue highlights? Or blue hair with white highlights??"
Miki pulled into the driveway. "I mean, I get it. I don't think I realized you two were brothers for a little while." she waved her hands in the air. "He's like, dark and tall and scary and grumpy, and you're all happy and bouncy and your hair is light and you always laugh." she turned the car off. "So different. Like night and day."
Wait.
Do they all dye their hair? I've never seen them dye Cage's but… apparently they do?
WHAT IF BEN HAS BLONDE HAIR.
Violet leans against the counter. "White with blue highlights sounds really nice, Sil! I bet you could get Miki or Cage to dye theirs a little too."
Cage grabs a few groceries, climbing out. "Yeah, I guess we are polar opposites."
Silver nodded. "Yes, I think I like the blue with white highlights best. Oh my goodness, no Miki will never dye her hair. She hates doing anything with it cuz it's that weird, wiry red hair texture. I probably could talk Cage into getting blue streaks or something though!"
Miki grabbed the rest of the bags and headed for the house. "It's super weird to watch you two sometimes. Like, sometimes you don't even interact like brothers. I forget he's not, like, your dad."
Cage bursts out in laughter. “My Dad!? Have you seen how much I purposely annoy the guy? He is not my dad.” He opens the door and holds it for her, waving to Silver. “Hi guys!”
Gabriel habitually turns invisible, jumping at Cages entrance and staring at him.
His hair is really brown?
"CAGE" Silver yelled, bolting off her bar stool and racing over the greet them. "I'm getting white hair with blue highlights!!!"
Miki passed them, setting her groceries on the counter. "Wait, really? Violet, is she serious?"
Violet shrugs. “She can do what she wants.”
Cage automatically shrieks. “WHAT! YESS! Mine needs redyed soon anyways, the roots are starting to show. Vi would you do highlights again? And CAN I GET THE TIPS BLUE!!!”
Violet smiles, “Cage, you can have done to your hair whatever you want.”
Silver jumped up and down. "YAAAS. We can have a salon party!"
Miki laughed and unbagged the groceries. "You're the best mom, Vi. Here's your steak and veggies. Sil, I got you some snacks for Gabriel."
Cage beams, “yesssss!”
Gabriel looks over the ‘snacks’.
Whats this?
Cage gasps. “OH YEAH WE SAW A REALLY WEIRD GUY VIOLET.”
Violet creases her brow. “Darling, that’s vague and judge mental…”
Miki absently smacked Cage's arm. "Man, we shoulda gotten a mango to see if Gabriel would eat it the same way that guy did."
Silver came to stand next to her. "Wait what? What weird guy had a mango? And why did he eat it like Gabe would?"
Gabriel takes a step back.
????????
Violet shakes her head. “What a minute, start from the begi-“
“HE WAS SO BIIIG! I thought he was there to GET US!” Cage interrupts.
Silver's eyes widened. "Why was he like Gabriel??"
Miki rolled her eyes, separating her food from Cage's in two piles. "There was this freaky guy with teeth in the produce section and he took a freaking bite straight out of a mango and then paid for it and walked out and sat on the playground building to eat it."
"I mean… that kinda sounds like something Gabriel would do." Silver said.
Cage bounces. “NO BUT HIS TEETH WERE VAMPY!”
Violet sighs. “I still have no idea why this is import-“
“He WAS LIKE EIGHT FOOT SIX.” Cage yells.
"Oh!" Miki said. "We were gonna tell Ben cuz we didn't know if he was maybe stalking us and we were gonna ask Kiss and Gabe if there were other Kavi around cuz we thought he might be one."
"Do Kavi eat mangos like that?" Silver asked, scanning the room. "Gabriel?"
Miki tossed Cage his bag of peeps. "He also wanted to see if they would eat those."
Violet rubs her temples. “Okay so he had pointy teeth and was tall and ate mangos weird? What el-“
“-what is going on?” Ben demands, throwing open the basement door and entering the room with Kissa.
Violet glares.
Can I please speak.
Gabriel sits on a stool, waiting for Kissa to answer so he doesn’t have to.
Miki sighed and rolled her eyes. "For the MILLIONTH TIME: there was a tall freaky dude at the store with teeth like Gabriel's who bit into a mango before he paid and Cage and I thought he might be a Kavi and maybe he was following us."
Silver glanced at the peeps in Cage's hand and gagged. "Those are nasty. Do not feed them to Gabe. Feed them to Kissa."
Ben glares. “What? What did he look like?”
“He was tAAAAAALLLLL,” Cage reaches up high, “and he had white hair! He picked the mango up and just bit a chun-“
“I don’t care about the mango Cage. He had pointy teeth??”
Cage nods. “Yeah! And he sat on the roof of the pavilion!”
“Kissa, did they take any Kavi besides you?” He turns to Kiss who looks equally confused.
“No. Of course not. They only have three.”
Silver paused and stared at Kiss. "Three?? Who's the other one besides you two??"
Miki pointed toward the pile of her food. "There, Sil. You can have whatever you want or whatever you think you can get Gabriel to eat. I didn't really pay attention to what I grabbed cuz we were talking about the mango dude."
Kissa sighs. “I don’t know him personally but he wasn’t tan. He had dark hair and was pale.”
Ben rubs the bridge of his nose. “Did he see you?”
Miki nodded slowly. "I think so. Cage kept staring at him and whispering REALLY LOUD and he looked at us once. His eyes were weird too."
Silver picked up a package with her fingernails as if it were something dead. "Miki, you got a package of SEAWEED WRAPS????"
Cage giggles. “He looked funny, I had to point it out!”
Ben takes his shoulders, his eyebrows raised in exasperation. “What part of lay low do you not understand.”
Kissa squints at the seaweed wraps. “Hey! Those look like Lemus!”
"I tried to tell him!" Miki yelped in defense. "I told him like five times to stop staring and wall away and then when we got outside he saw him again. I'm never taking you to town with me again." She said to Cage.
Silver stared at Kiss, face covered in horror. "A what?? A Lemur? What's that??"
Kissa rolls her eyes and snatches the package, examining it before tearing it open. “Lemus. A kind of sandwich in Kavino.” she takes one out and sniffs it. “Eck, bad quality but it’s worth a try. Gabriel.” She holds one out to the air and his invisible hands take it.
Ben sighs. “You guys are horrible. Did he watch you afterwards? Did he follow?”
Silver watched in disgusted horror. "You EAT SEAWEED?? No wonder you're so weir–GABE DONT EAT IT THATS NASTY."
Miki loudly shushed Silver before answering Ben. "No, no one followed us home. He was very interested in his mango."
Gabriel turns it invisible and takes a step back.
But…. it looks so good.
Kissa sighs. “Gabriel don’t listen to her, you can taste it.” She takes a bite of her own and stares at it. “Mn. Definitely not as good but it’s like, okay I guess.”
Ben shakes his head. “Fine. Whatever. As long as he wasn’t interested in you.”
