Hey all!

I'm happy to announce Notebook.ai is sponsoring our first worldbuilding competitions: one to create a perfect utopian government and one to create a dystopian one. You can read the full blog post for the submission guidelines, judging criteria and other details, but here's a quick summary:

  • Turn on Government pages for your Notebook.ai account by clicking here
    • Government pages are temporarily free to create again (until Dec 15) so everyone can participate! Tell your friends! :)
  • Create a utopian government and submit it to the Utopian Dream collection by Dec 15 to enter that competition

  • Create a dystopian government and submit it to the Dystopian Rule collection by Dec 15 to enter that competition

The winners will be announced by December 21, 2022 and each one will get 6 months of free Notebook.ai Premium. After a winner is announced, the collections will show everyone's submissions so you can browse through the full collections of utopian or dystopian governments that everyone made.

Happy worldbuilding!

Great! I have a few:

  • May I link another page type (Like a document for the laws) to my government page?
  • Am I allowed to edit the fields on the government page, or do I have to leave it as in?
  • If my story is dystopian, may I submit a government I build for my world? (Not as in a pre-created government). Like is it okay if I use this worldbuilding for my own world?
  • Is there one winner per prompt? Or is it just one overall winner?

Thanks in advance for your response!

(My main concerns were definitely the first two, since I know there are linked page fields, but like, can I like a page via the @ method? Or should it only be in the linked page fields)

Those are great questions! (And I really appreciate them; I'd love to run more competitions in the future, so knowing what questions people have and fleshing out answers will help me a lot for the next one!)

To answer them each,

May I link another page type (Like a document for the laws) to my government page?

Yep! Any submitted page is allowed to link to any other page, as long as those linked pages are public. However, the submitted government page's content will be the primary content being judged (both to keep the focus primarily on the government, and also for the sanity of my judges!). Linking other pages would be a great way to add context or intrigue for people browsing our submitted governments after the competition is over.

Am I allowed to edit the fields on the government page, or do I have to leave it as in?

Feel free to edit your government template as little or as much as you'd like. They're customizable to fit your world and customizing them seems like a great way to make your government shine! :)

If my story is dystopian, may I submit a government I build for my world? (Not as in a pre-created government). Like is it okay if I use this worldbuilding for my own world?

Absolutely. Feel free to submit any government you want, whether or not you plan to use it for your past, current, or future worlds. Submitting a government will display it in the collection after the competition ends, but you keep full rights over your idea and your writing to use it however you like.

Is there one winner per prompt? Or is it just one overall winner?

There will be one winner for Utopian Dream and one winner for Dystopian Rule, with each winner rewarded 6 months of Premium and bragging rights. :)

That's correct (and something I should probably polish up!). I have both of your submissions'. :)

Governments will be hidden in each collection until a winner has been chosen. This'll enable me to let users blind-judge governments without knowing who wrote it, but as soon as a winner is chosen, all submitted governments will be available to browse after. I'll definitely make it a little more obvious that you have submitted correctly though! Thanks for the heads up!

Submissions are now closed! We have a few users helping out with judging (thank you!) and I'll update here whenever we have our winners! After each winner is announced, all of the submissions to both contests will be publicly available in their respective collection, ready for those interested to browse through. :)

Good luck!
