Alrighty everyone – you've probably noticed by now that there's a fancy new template editor for all of your page types. You can read all about it at the full blog post (also linked below).

You've probably also noticed there were plenty of site errors and massive slowdowns over the past week; the two aren't unrelated, and I believe I've got the big issues all fixed up. The site should be faster now (more on that in just a second) and much less error-prone. If you're still seeing any errors, please let me know (andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)@indentlabs.com works well, as well as the "Report a problem" link in the top-right dropdown of any page, or the "Site Support" forums).

So first off, thank you so much to everyone for being patient as I worked through bug after bug to keep the site up and running (for the most part). I know it's super inconvenient when inspiration strikes and your tool of choice to jot those ideas down is slow. I will be dedicating much of this week solely to stability and speed improvements instead of new features to get the site back to a buttery smoothness as we continue to grow.

Now, for the template editor: it's live and ready for you. There's a full blog post about everything new in it that you can read here, which also dives into what's next and what you can expect the end-game of the editor to be (hint: it's exciting!).

I have a lot more planned for the site but sometimes it's hard to balance the excitement of finally having time to implement new features with a slow-and-steady, reliable approach to new features. To that end, I also want to say that I'll be working on a better testing server for myself this week, so new features in the future should be much more stable from the get-go. I also plan on being especially slow-and-steady for all new features in October and November to ensure there are no interruptions during National Novel Writing Month.

Again, thank you everyone for your patience. I can't wait for what's next. :)

Yay, it's official! :D This is really exciting news, and I'm loving the sneak peek at the full vision for the template editor. SO much customisation! I was looking through the suggestions thread earlier and since so many of them are along the lines of 'can we have category X and field Y in page Z please', I can see how many users are going to benefit so much from this update and the additional template editing features that are planned for the near future.

Thank you for all your hard work! I'm sure it is less exciting to work on site speed and stability and fixing bugs, but we definitely appreciate it.

I have a quick question about the writing prompts generated for custom fields: how does that work? Is it just "What is [pagename]'s [customfieldname]?" Or are there different templates for prompts based on what we've named our fields? (Because surely you're not writing them all manually - that would be exhausting!)

@Eirwen

Absolutely thrilled over the template editor! Cannot wait to see what else you come up with, and so thankful that you are the creator of this site, especially with how open and accommodating you are to the community of users!

@SaltyLasagna

This is so amazing! Waiting for the application errors was honestly 100% worth it, I'm probably going to end up using even more pages now! Thank you so much!!
