Dichotomy. (Part 1/2)

“Who are you?” Cass asked the stranger.

“Look. If you want me to answer your question, then could you let me in?” said the woman on the other side of the peephole.

“But mommy and daddy said-“

“Listen kid-“

“No exceptions!” Cass grinned from inside the home.

“Fine.. I’m Paula. But you can call me Polly for short. I don’t really care either way.” said the stranger.

“You’re being rude.” sneered Cass.

“I’m a friend of your mother's!” insisted Polly.

“I don’t believe that.” said Cass.

“Fine! If I can’t go inside, can you go outside?” screamed Polly.

“Sure.” Cass shrugged.

Cass and Polly stood in the yard of her home: a small red house, a bland home but home nonetheless.

The wind was particularly terrible this time of day. While Cass didn’t have to worry about a thing, that annoying string stuff they call “hair” was getting blown all over Polly’s face.

“Stupid wind..” Polly muttered.

“Hey! No bad words.” Cass pouted.

Polly crossed her arms “Too bad.”

Cass picked up a bug with her hand’s palm: one of those adorable abominations they call the Ladybug “So.. anyway, where’d you come from?”

“Honestly, I have no clue where the hell I am.”

Cass smirked while watching the Ladybug on her hand “Don’t you live here?”

Polly fiddled with her sweater. ‘What a strange thing to be wearing in the summertime’ Cass thought.

“I was walking in downtown to some stupid Call Center before I found myself here in the middle of nowhere.”

“Actually, you’re not in nowhere. You’re in 2525 Elysium Street from Condor Canyon Hills.”

Polly waved her hands fast, like some sort of clapping bird “How the fuck do you know that?”

“I live here dummy.” answered Cass bluntly.

Around the same time, a man was walking on the sidewalk opposite to Cass’ house.
