@Fraust

Hello! Basically, you're a witch experimenting with magic and you may have accidentally turned your young cat familiar into a human child. You haven't figured out how to turn him back yet, but he seems to like being human, and now he can help you more too… the only downside is that you're now raising a dangerously curious, catlike child.

Rules:

  • Not first come first serve! I have the right to deny anyone for any reason (although I usually won't, if I do it's probably because our writing styles don't mesh well)
  • I don't care how long your responses are, but preferably more than a one liner? Detailed one liners okay but please give me something to work with. Usually my favorite length is around one paragraph (I can't keep up with several paragraph replies qwq)
  • Please be literate! Occasional slip ups are totally fine, but please try to have correct grammar and spelling most of the time
  • LGBTQ+ characters are loved and respected <3
  • Don't be rude >:0
  • Swearing is perfectly fine, but no slurs of any kind!
  • OP characters are banned >:0
  • If you have questions, ask! Just make sure you put things in parentheses if the roleplay has started :>
  • Please be active!!! Not forcing you to reply several times a day (although it would be nice lol), but please reply at least once a day or let me know if you will be unable to! I'm pretty understanding, but I'll usually bump after a day or two depending on whether or not I see you active in other forums or generally online
  • Uhhh I can add to the list if I think of things

Here's the son
His name is Atlas

Name: Magnolia Sage Lexington
Age: 19
Gender/Pronouns: female, she/her
Personality: Mag is basically an ambiverted ENFP. She’s a free spirit, and enjoys making social and emotional connections, but she’s also a deep thinker and fairly independent. She’s very idealistic and morally driven, but also a little jaded by her father’s death and a previous toxic relationship. Recently she’s been unsure of what she wanted to do with her her life, because the idea of being something only appeals to her, but actually making that idea a reality tends to put her in a struggle.
Appearance
Height: 5’6
Weight: 137 lbs
Hair Color: dyed cotton candy pink, naturally dark
Hair Style/Length: very fluffy and wavy, goes down to around her hips
Skin: warm brown
Build/Physique: medium hourglass build, soft but lean
Distinguishing Features: has a few random freckles on her upper arm that kind of look like a constellation, and a henna tattoo in a sort of solar system design on her upper hip
Image cuz I just had to have one too

Other
Backstory: Magnolia has been a witch for a few years, but she’s always had the gift of necromancy. She’s stuck with that sort of thing for a long time, and has gotten good at it, but a while ago she tried to branch out her abilities, starting with transfiguration. After mastering transfiguring objects and insects, she went a bit too far and immediately moved on to her familiar, attempting to turn the cat into a dog. Instead she got a young human boy. Whoops. Hopefully she can turn him back before Claire, her partner, comes home.
Likes: spppaaaaaaaaacccccceeeeeeeee, bone collecting, museums, starry nights, the smell of incense, rain, and old books, people (both dead and living), having freedom and being trusted
Dislikes: being left out, feeling embarrassed, loud noises, being alone, spicy food
Skills: an excellent communicator, can see ghosts and spirits and can communicate with them, proficient in necromancy.
Fears: as much as she loves space, she has an underlying existential fear of it; snakes and spiders, violent ghosts, her friends leaving her
Other: trying to save up money to get a telescope, reads encyclopedias for fun if she’s not with her friends, her father’s ghost tends to show up sometimes and she doesn’t know whether to be happy about it or not.

@Fraust

Aa I love her! How should we start? We could always do right after she accidentally makes him human lol

@Fraust

Atlas, a small ginger kitten for the moment, looked up at Magnolia curiously as she began a spell. He knew the intention of the spell, which was to turn him into a dog, and he wasn't entirely sure how he felt about it, but he was glad to help anyway. Since he was Magnolia's familiar, he knew it was his job to assist her in any way he could.

He closed his eyes as the spell began, feeling a bit nauseous as he felt his body contorting and shifting. Soon, he found himself sitting on the floor, groaning softly. "Did it work…?" He asked, seeming to startle himself by having a voice. He looked down at himself, thankfully clothed, and examined his small, human hands. That's odd… dogs definitely have paws too, and they can't talk like that. "Miss Magnolia…?"

@Tired-but-passionate

The spell was simple. At least, Magnolia thought so. She had Altas in front of her, the spell book in one hand. The other had its pointer finger on the cat’s forehead. She had the words memorized, but she glanced at the book again just in case. She closed her eyes, trying to imagine Altas as a golden retriever.
”Pasha mutalen: kantam nopaj,” she chanted, and the spell was cast.
At the sound of an unfamiliar voice, her eyes shot open. Then her jaw dropped. It’s not like she expected to get it right the first time, but this…
“Atlas…” she moaned. “Oh, how did this happen? You’re- you’re human!”

@Fraust

Atlas looked down at his hands again, humming thoughtfully. "Well… um… good job, I think!" He smiled brightly, yet nervously up at Magnolia. "This is probably more complicated magic than turning me into a dog, so… it is still a bit odd, though."
He shifted for a moment before attempting to stand, looking very unsteady. He failed at first, simply tumbling back to the floor when he tried to get up, but eventually managed to get to his feet. He was wobbling dangerously and held out his arms to try and keep himself from falling over.

@Tired-but-passionate

Magnolia blinked, mind frozen with shock. Watching him attempt to stand made her refocus, and she giggled. Then she was laughing, standing up and offering him her arm. Now that the situation had sort of settled in, Magnolia found it rather hilarious.
“I guess going from cat to human is a more complicated process. Very odd indeed!”
The words slid strangely off of her tongue, as she was still unused to the fact that she was having a conversation with someone whose vocabulary used to only be made up with the word mew.

@Fraust

Atlas held onto Magnolia's arm when it was offered to him, still very unstable on his feet. He was used to wandering around on four paws, after all, not standing upright like this. He glanced around curiously, his eyes still the same bright amber they had been when he was a cat, and both sharp and round in shape.
"Well, I suppose it'll probably take some getting used to…" He looked down at himself again once he was up, examining his wobbling legs. He was still very small in comparison to Magnolia, but considerably larger than he'd been as a kitten. "It's not too bad, though. I mean… you can understand me now. I presume, anyway."

@Tired-but-passionate

Magnolia still grinned with amusement. "I can understand you. Wow. Um… can I at least turn you back so I can get the spell right? As wildly beyond as my expectations have been surpassed, I have to at least get the spell to do what I want."

@Fraust

Atlas shrugged a bit, trying to get used to being on two feet. "I-I dunno… I'm still feeling kinda sick from the first time. And sore…" He winced as he moved, seeming uneasy. "I might die or something if we do it too many times, I dunno."

@Tired-but-passionate

Her grin dropped. "Oh, I'm sorry! Are you okay? Why did you have to bring up dying? I mean, I suppose I could easily revive you, but then dying would be painful… Wait-"
She glanced at the clock on the desk beside them. "Claire's coming home soon… Ah, well…" she bit her lip, switching between thinking out loud to silently. "How am I going to explain…? Hm." she looked back at Atlas. "You can lay on the couch for now, until you feel better."

@Fraust

"I'm fine, I-I'm fine…" Atlas insisted, trying and failing to stand up a bit straighter. "Bones are just achy from… growing, I guess." He allowed Magnolia to assist him over to the couch and curled up in a ball on it once he was there. "I'm sure miss Claire will understand. Why don't you just tell her what happened?" He asked, confused.
