I'm redoing some old characters because I'm not happy with ow they've aged since I created them.
And this one I made up as a kid and he was kinda my Superman and I don't like that. I'm rewriting him to instead be a young rural Sheriff to fit in with his character and overall plot.
Now I was wondering what superpowers someone like that should have.
He's part of a trio, one has a powered dash, and the other is a pinpoint accurate shooter.
y'know alison from Umbrella academy? well, honestly, that would be a great power for a cop! Her power is she says 'i heard a rumor that…' and then that happens. it would be great for stopping crimes.
I was just about to suggest temporary limited mind control as per Alison (or the Envoy from the Wild Cards series; similar concept). The ability to put people temporarily in stasis or make them fall asleep could also come in handy.

One I can think of is invisible barriers. I'd be kinda cool if he could create invisible barriers for a limited amount of time and with a cooldown. It's be handy if he's ever in a firefight or trying to contain someone.
But to not make it OP limit it to below one mile and it also has a cooldown. This would be nice also during firefights as a quick get away. Maybe you could add a feature where he can teleport one other person with him or something. Might make him more powerful but not extremely OP.
I dont know what you'd actually call this one, but he could have the ability to pull things toward himself or pull himself toward things. But it's not levitation in the way he can levitate himself or items, but more like an invisible string that connects himself to items.
This would be useful and find those wielding weapons and to see if someone is hiding behind walls.
It'd be dope if he could tell when people were lying. Like a feeling in his gut gives him a signal that someone lied whenever he talks to someone. It'd be like his own personal internal lie detector and extremely helpful in interigations.
