The country of Eshia is a land ruled by a harsh queen regnant, known for her brutal laws and unforgiving nature. While neighboring countries are full of trade and prosperity, Eshia is falling apart from the inside out. It’s riddled with deception, backstabbing, and most importantly a growing rebellion determined to uproot the throne. The queen’s rule is getting stricter every week due to this, and the unrest is almost palpable. The only thing holding the kingdom together is the fact that the heir to the throne, the queen’s daughter, is missing. The queen is tearing apart the country to find her, and her daughter has been evading her for months now.
This story is about two rivaling characters searching for the queen’s daughter. One is a rebel, a commoner who lost everything to the queen and who is knee-deep in every shenanigan the rebellion pulls. The other is a soldier in one of the most elite trackers in the military that is controlled by the queen, a high ranking noble who hasn’t tasted a moment of poverty, only a life full of training and pain. When the soldier is released on a solo mission to track down the queen’s daughter, and one of the rebellion’s sabotage plans goes wrong, the rebel and tracker are forced to work together to look for the princess. All they have to do is learn not to strangle each other.

Alright, so this is the basic jist of the rp I'm craving at the moment. There is for sure going to be an enemies to lovers thingy going on, as well as quite a lot of action, so be prepared if you want to join :)

Rules:
-so this thing is probably going to be rated mature, but this can be negotiated.
-romance is quite likely, and anything steamy will be taken to the pms or skipped over.
-cursing is also fine, but as intense as every other word
-I’m looking for an experienced RPer, someone who is comfortable with 1-3 paragraph responses, at bare minimum 3 sentences
-I also ask that you can reply more often than once a month, or at least can let me know ahead of time if you’re going to disappear
-Andrews rules apply
-LGBTQ+ is totally allowed
-please ask before joining, and be prepared to post a writing sample
-there might be some triggering subjects present so beware

That’s all I can think of for now, feel free to ask questions though, and if someone shows interest I will put up a character template.

@gracehustle

(I have more experience with straight romances and that would be what I prefer, but I'm not picky if you'd rather have the rebel be a male and the soldier a female :) I can make anything work)

@PrettyLittlePyro

Name: Romulus Benrai
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Unsure. He doesn't really have any interest in relationships.
Appearance: Romulus is very handsome. He's a noble, obviously. Of course he is. He has tanned skin, parts of it burnt and peeling from all the time he spends outside. He has very defined features and always has a fuck you expression on his face. He rarely smiles. His eyes are dark and menacing, one lighter than the other, both a shade of blue-gray. He has a scar over one eye, and scars all over his body. His body is that of a soldier's, scarred and hot. Woman who have seen his shirtless have been known to faint. He's about 6' even, and has scars all over his body. He has black hair that he keeps down to his shoulders, because cutting it is too much of a hassle.
Clothing: It depends. Sometimes he wears the usual soldiers' uniform, with chain mail and dark tunic and pants and boots, and a belt with several knives and his swords on it. He can also wear the fancy clothes of nobles, but he prefers not to. He hates wearing them, and thinks that they're uncomfortable.
Personality: Blunt and to the point. He hates the way nobles dance around the topic and flower it with pretty words. He wants people to get to the point, and not waste his time. He's a bit of a masochist, and works best when he's in pain. He hates liars, but is a skilled liar himself. He's observant, and not particularly loyal, but he knows his duty, and will do it no matter what. He hates people, and is kind of a loner. He can be a good acter if he so chooses. He is cunning, and a dangerous enemy. He rarely gets angry, but when he does, it's cold as ice, and just as deadly.
Background: Romulus's father, Davinous Benrai, thought the best way to teach childen is to hurt them. Let them learn through pain. So that's all he grew up with. His father was absent, more than abusive, and his mother had died at childbirth. He had an older brother, Jackson, who was weak and frail, and died shortly after Romulus turned twelve. He became the heir to the Benrai family, and went to work in the army to make a name for himself, instead of just that Benrai boy.
Likes: Quiet, blood, killing, warm bread, pain, night time, being alone
Dislikes: Loud people, working with others, failing, vegetables
Other: The Benrai family has been known to be warriors, sooooo…

(ohmygoshIlovehimsomuch!)

Name: Atria Valens
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Straight
Appearance: Atria is a pretty simple girl appearance wise. She has wavy, caramel brown hair that's long enough to brush her lower back, but rarely it's seen out of a braid. Paired with her barely tanned skin and jade green eyes, she still isn't anything interesting. She stands at about 5'5" and from years of not much food, is whip thin, though the muscle she has is visible. Her only other defining features have to be the large jagged cut right above her left knee, and what used to be a large burn on her right arm, that now has morphed into nothing more than a large patch of new mismatched skin.
Clothing: She has one reliable outfit that consists of a pair of raggedy brown pants that are about two inches too short, a dirty and worn tan t-shirt, and deep brown work boots that are well torn at the seams. Occasionally she wears her prized leather jacket, which isn't in much better shape than the rest of her outfit, though it is worn enough that it's very soft.
Personality: Atria is tough, and has a firey temper. She's confident and a bit of a smartass, both of which get her into a neverending loop of trouble. The few people that know her better than that will claim without a doubt that she's more loyal than the tides and is a playful person in general, though this side of her is rare to see unless children are around. Skilled at spinning lies. More will be revealed in the rp.
Background: She was born into a low class family that didn't have much, the oldest of three children and the only one that survived past birth. Her mother died of sickness when she was sick, and between her and her father, they managed about five more years before debt caught up to them. At that time, soldiers came to demand the money owed. When her father couldn't pay, he was taken to prison and she was forced to live in the streets, only to learn that her father was killed a few months later. From then on she lived on the streets, only finding a home again at fourteen with an old woman named Spesa. That was how she was brought into the rebellion, and when Spesa was caught and killed for treason against the crown, the rebellion became her new family. Now she's been working with them for years.
Likes: Fire (As long as she's not too close to it) animals, but specifically hawks, heights
Dislikes: The water as she can't swim, bugs, boats and the Queen
Other: She can barely read, and has never attempted to try writing anything.

Atria couldn't help but grin at the mess she had made. Perched on the roof one of the many tall buildings in the iner city, she watched the chaos and confusion unfold. It was music to her ears to hear the shouts of frustrated guards and crown funded merchants as the guards searched high and low for the princess that was clearly not there. It was a simple trick, but effective, only needing an anonymous tip and the right day and once again the rebellion struck. The guards overturned table after table, searching merchants, fighting with the offended nobels and not catching onto the fact that the elusive princess wasn't there.
She snickered at the chaos, standing up and hopping down to a lower roof. Her borrowed cloak flipped up over her head, hiding her features while she scrambled down to the ground. Yes, she was supposed to report right back to the safe house after the diversion was in place, but a few seconds of walking through the chaos couldn't hurt. Right? Atria walked out of a side street confidently, slouching and adding a small limp to her walk, things that a low class person would have. Someone that would dissappear in the shadows.
It seemed to work too, like every other time she had used the trick. She only walked along the edges of the chaos, slipping a small jade bracelet in her pocket from one of the overturned stands, as well as a thin golden necklade. Then, she continued along, heading for another side street, towards where she was supposed to head next. So the next part of the plan could run smoothly.

@PrettyLittlePyro

Romulus ground his teeth in frustration, fighting back the anger he felt rising in him with a passion. Blowing up at these worthless soldiers wouldn't do anything to help him, not at all. They didn't understand what they had done wrong. Not at all. No, if he yelled at him, they'd just think it was him with the problem.

They didn't understand the gravity of the mission.

How could they? Simple soldiers as they were, most of them commoners or lesser or bastard nobles that no one cared about, tossed into the army so that their families - and especially the queen - didn't have to deal with them. They weren't privy to the information that Romulus had, things that could change the very country if it was given to the wrong person. And telling these boys, who had no idea how to hold a sword,, let alone fight, or shed blood, these secrets? The country would be doomed.

So he could only watch with ferious, burning eyes, as they picked through the rubble, some of them laughing, some of them glancing at him with fearful eyes, some of them - the senior ones, mostly - shouting with frustration.

Whoever had done this had done it on purpose. Romulus surveyed the wreckage, tightly clamping down on his anger. Someone was going to pay for this mess. Most likely him, though. The queen had ordered him to find her daughter, the crown princess. The tracks had all led here - and now they were gone. Messed up by some bastard who didn't want to make things easy for them.

They rarely are easy, he thought with a frown.

Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a cloaked figure slipping into a side street. Glancing around, he noted that none of the other soldiers were paying any attention to him or the figure. So it was up to him. He followed after the figure, hand on the dagger at his belt. So far, they were the only suspicious one, and it was better to be safe than sorry…

@gracehustle

Atria kept up the act for several more steps into the street, then let it fade until she was walking normally, no limp or slouch in her step. She had gotten by without being spotted, or at least she figured she had. Normally, she would check behind her, at least for someone trailing her, but the thrill of pulling off another stunt wiped the idea right out of her mind.

The shouts of soldiers still were audible as she stepped out onto another main street, slipping off her cloak and folding it over her arm while she tried to dissappear into the crowds.

Even with the large amount of soldiers at the wrecked market behind her, several patrols still wandered the streets, which she slipped by with her head bowed. If she was caught now, everything would go downhill. She still had to set in motion the more important part of the rebellion's scheme, and to do that, she had to get down to the workers quarter of the city soon.

Her caramel brown braid brushed her back with every step, giving her a constant reminder to move faster. Even when she dumped her cloak at the door of what looked like a random house and knocked once, she left within seconds. Caius would kill her if she didn't return his cloak after all. She just hoped he would see the black fabric pile on the safe houses' door.

@PrettyLittlePyro

Yes. Definitely strange. The figure had dropped their cloak at the entrance of a house, revealing the figure of a young woman with warm brown hair.

There was something about her that set Romulus's teeth on edge. She didn't seem like a normal commoner. She moved with a purpose and poise that few woman like her. There was definitely something wrong with her.

She moved faster, and he moved faster, his leather boots making no noise on the rough stone of the road. She was up to something. And while he wanted to grab her and demand to know what she was doing, now wasn't the time. He had to figure out if she was really doing something she shouldn't, first. Although, even if she was innocent, he could still arrest her. The queen's soldiers had been known to arrest, hurt, or kill innocent folk.

And while Romulus wasn't someone like that, he knew that he could. He didn't look that different from the other soldiers.

@gracehustle

The worker's quarters was a considerable ways away from the merchant streets, but with all the shortcuts Atria knew, she was sure she would be there in no time. She slipped around a group of young girls, all giggling as they chatted about who knew what. At one time Atria had been like them, and as much as she loved the memories of that part of her past, it had been a long time. She didn't have time to dwell on the past though, and with a quick shake of her head she was back on task.

She quickened her pace slightly as the next side street came into view, though to call it a street was an improvement. It was nothing more than a thin alley between two buildings barely wide enough for a grown man to fit through. That fact made it the best route though, as not many people would notice her, meaning she still didn't have to check behind her for anyone.

Atria continued on through the gap, taking another turn once she was through. A glint of mischeif was visible in her eyes, and even when she glanced behind her to finally check her path, she didn't see anyone out of the ordinary. It seemed she would make it to the worker's quarters with not a single flaw in her plan after all.

@PrettyLittlePyro

The woman slipped through an alley between two buildings, and one look at it made Romulus realize that if he tried to fit, he would probably get stuck, and make some noise. But he was far from giving up the chase.

So he went around. It might take a bit longer, but he was pretty confident that he could make it. Hopefully. The woman didn't seem to be in a hurry, so he didn't have to worry about moving as fast. He darted around one of the two buildings, where there was a slightly larger opening, and when he came out, he noticed that she had turned a corner.

He followed her. On some instinct of his, he didn't turn the corner, and, from the reflection in a window, realized it was a good thing he did. She had glanced back, and he didn't want to be caught unawares.

He sped up his pace, feet making no noise on the rough stone. What should he do now? Just follow her to see where she was going? That seemed the best plan, as that way, he could see if he was right to be suspicious and leave his stupid soldiers or not.

@gracehustle

Two more alleyways made her path easy and the smell of the docks finally reached Atria's nose. She had been careful to check her path more often as she grew closer, but still no one stood out, not even as she reached the streets of blacksmiths shops and textile shops. This was the place she was in charge of wrecking havoc on next. Most of the shops had nothing to do with the reign of the queen, but there was one large metalworkers shop that was in charge of the weapons for the military.

Atria wrapped her braid up into a low lying bun as she drew closer to the shop, pausing for a moment near a dirty part of the street to reach down and get her hands full of dust. Quickly she wiped some on her face, then on her arms, careful not to get her clothes any dirtier than they already were. A soft grin pulled onto her face once she was finished. She looked like a worker girl, especially as she added in her slouch and quickened her steps, she could pass as one of the many terrified children employed by these shops.

It was exactally what she needed.

Barely she glanced behind her again, freezing for a moment at the sight of a guard, but continuing on anyways. He didn't look out of place, and there were plenty of guards always active in this area. She made her steps quick as she headed closer to the hot building, bypassing the main entrance and heading around the back side of the building.

@PrettyLittlePyro

The girl ended up near the docks, where she smeared herself with dirt, and even changed her gait. Romulus couldn't help but be impressed. This girl was smart, very much so, and more than that, her acting was believable. What had originally been a hunch to follow her turned out to be a very good idea. She might even be one of the rebels.

The girl had glanced back a few more times, but he had managed to hide in time, without raising her attention. Romulus was careful not to look like he was following her, so that if anyone had seen him, then they would've thought he was just a normal soldier.

The girl glanced back again, when there was nowhere to hide. They met eyes, but he kept his expression as impassive as he could, flicking his eyes away after a few moments, to make it seem like he was just looking around. After all, she didn't expect anyone to see her as more than a worker girl. He was careful to make sure that there was no flicker of any information in his eyes when she looked back.

Still following her, Romulus was a bit more careful, now that she had spotted him… although she didn't seem to be suspicious. The girl walked past a building where a lot of guards were housed and then went to the back.

Holding his breath, as if that could make him quieter, he walked quickly after her. His heart was pounding quickly. If he could prove that she was a rebel, then he would be one of the first people to catch a rebel in almost a month. Maybe he could even get a promotion beyond training a bunch of children.
