My mom bought a double set of Cinderella 2 and Cinderella 3 when I was 6, and I hated Cinderella 2 so much that I never watched the 3rd one.

Ah man, you're not gonna believe me but Cinderella three is low-key pretty good. It's off the rails though, basic the step mother gets a hold of the fairy godmothers wand and uses it to go back in time so the prince married her daughter instead, then Cinderella has to win back her brain washed boy. It's wild but probably one of the most conceptually creative disney movies tbh. Definitely the best of the straight to DVD sequels
My mom recently found brand-new, unopened DVDs of Lion King 2 and Lion Kind 1 1/2. I've heard that they're good, but I wasn't a huge fan of the original Lion King, so idk if I'll watch them.
I also vaguely remember my grandma having a Little Mermaid 2 DVD, even though I was scared of the original Little Mermaid as a young child.
also Cinderella 3 lowkey sounds rlly good
You know I was never a lion king fan either but 1 1/2 is more of a straight comedy than the first. Little mermaid two was an alright movie I think buts it's been years, but my favorite part was just seeing Ariel as an adult and a mother because idk it was just nice to see a princess (literally) mature.
Here's the Wikipedia page on all of them (wow I had no idea there were so many) I've only seen a few and none of them were too good but I think they're fun for rainy days hahaha.
Do you have a favorite….or a least favorite?
I think the plot and pacing of Lion King 2 is all weird but the songs are amazing, "My lullaby", "Not one of Us" and, "Love will find Away" are amazing songs.
Cinderella Three is enjoyable The stepsister that is focuses on is lovably awkward.
Little Mermaid two was ok, I didn't like the portrayal of Arial very much actually I thought it was sad to see her do the same thing to her daughter that her father did to her.
Aladdin and the king of thieves is alright, I don't love it but it's aight
Lady and the tramp 2 was just weird, It was really weird.
I really loved Cinderella 3 and I still do, even as a 16 year old.. The way they took Anastasia was just really nicely done. AND THEY GAVE THE PRINCE PERSONALITY. Also More Than A Dream is a really nice, soft song.
Cinderella 2 is good for what it tries to achieve. I don't think it was ever trying to be a proper, fully plot based movie. The plot is literally the mice collating their memories with Cinderella into a scrapbook to give to her. It never tries to be anything else. That's all it is.
And I have always adored Little Mermaid 2. I really like the character of Melody, and it's quite interesting seeing Morgana. I actually really enjoy it and have never understood the hate it gets.
Let's compare lists of what we've seen (or at least remember watching)!
I have Cinderella 2, 3 and Little Mermaid 2 on DVD.
I vaguely remember watching Lion King 2 but idk when or where.
I do also have An Extremely Goofy Movie on DVD as well and it's not bad.
I don't remember watching any others tho.
Ok add the two Aladdin sequels, one (?) of the Beauty and the Beast sequels (i don't remember which one), Pocahontas 2, Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas, Lady and the Tramp 2, Hunchback 2, Stitch the Movie (literally yesterday), Mulan 2, Lilo and Stitch 2 (also yesterday), Kronk's New Groove (couple days ago), Disney Princess Enchanted Tales: Follow Your Dreams (on DVD, I think I have), Little Mermaid 3, all the Tinkerbell movies (was not aware they counted as sequels but OK), Phineas and Ferb 2nd Dimension + Phineas and Ferb cross Marvel to the list of sequels I have seen
I did not realise I had seen this many
(Wow……….)
Wow that's a really impressive list, I guess I've got a lot to catch up on lol
I think some Disney sequels are so weird because (they're obviously quick cash grabs instead of trying to be masterpieces like the originals were) but I think there are some of them that didn't even watch the original movie they were based off of, or at least it can feel that way. FOR EXAMPLE, I've always beefed with Mulan 2 or Hunchback of Notre Dame 2 especially because they were so untrue to the spirit of the originals, you know what I mean?
god hunchback 2 was pure shit, like why does it exist
they could have done so much better if you ask me
and they downgraded the animation SO MUCH
I'm a genuine 90s-baby that has three older siblings, so it makes sense that my list would be rather long. That said, I do agree that some of the direct-to-video/DVD sequels didn't live up to the original.
I am a '03 baby so i haven't seen all that many
Most of them I vaguely remember and don't even remember where I watched them
I own several, but I saw enough after Cinderella 2. I remember thinking "what is this? what'd they do to mah girl Cindy??"
Yeah Cinderella 2 is strange, but it's not bad for what it actually is. Like I said, it's just a compilation of stories that the mice are putting together into a storybook for Cindy. So if you keep thinking about it, it's not all that bad. And some of the stories are actually quite interesting. You just have to forget that it's not supposed to be a fully plot based movie.
