Hey! So it has come to my attention a fatal flaw that I have when writing… I suck at writing uplifting/happy/funny scenes! I can write a hundred heart-wrenching scenes- for some reason they come easily to me- but writing anything happy just takes so long and it never turns out well. Any tips for getting better at writing happier/funnier scenes?
Well, I have also found my self to have these issues actually. For me, most often I write easily what I feel is the greatest reflection of me. I do not have many tips for this, but I always tell myself these things:
- Think about what I want to write
- Do I feel the same emotion as the thing I'm going for?
- If not, what do I feel?
- How can I work towards being in the same mood as what I want to write.
- If happy, I think about/do things that make me happy. Seeing people smile, etc.
- If angry, I really just think about something that frustrates, or angers me.
- etc, etc.
- But never write something when it feel unnatural and unfeeling. Because it'll likely reflect that way.
- It is not my suggestion to you to do something that makes yourself angry, sad, or other negatives. Just giving examples of what I do.
Sorry if this isn't of much help, just thought I'd share a little. ( •̀ᴗ•́ )
( gonna jus go ahead and follow this bc i low key heavily relate :') )
(I was just reading back through it, and realized that I tend not to follow a step of my own advice to myself. ( •̀ᴗ•́ ) )
( Oh boi I FELT that. When I first started writing it was usually a way for me to vent so for the most part I'd only write sad or angry themed stuff. Now writing happy stuff is simply Too Awkward.)
@suicike Thanks for the advice! It definitely sounds like something worth trying! As you said, you should really try it yourself haha
Haha, yeah. No problem though!
