In my universe, there is an intelligent species of spider, in which humans have their final battle with. Unlike most species of spiders, they are one of the 26 species that live in social groups. I’m thinking of writing a specialized queen similar to the ones in ant colonies, but since most spiders aren’t social creatures, and I really don’t know anything about social spiders, I’m afraid this is inaccurate. So if anyone here is an expert on spiders, please lmk and correct me on anything I’ve gotten incorrect.

I am impressed with your dedication to scientific accuracy in your fictional writing! It's crucial to ensure that the fantastical elements of your story do not clash with the scientific principles and facts on which they are based.

Regarding your fictional species of spider, you are correct in noting that most species of spiders are solitary creatures. However, there are a few social spiders out there, such as some Stegodyphus and Anelosimus species, which might be good starting points for your research. The social spider label might have some more behavioral details you'll be interested in.

In terms of a specialized queen, ant colonies are not the only social insects with specialized castes. Some bees and wasps also have queens with specific roles in their colonies. However, if you want to create a scientifically plausible queen for your spider species, you could consider researching the specialized roles of social spider individuals, such as the "nurse" spiders that care for the young or the "web-builders" that construct and maintain the communal web, and considering how a queen would oversee, inspire, or otherwise benefit such a societal system.

Remember that you are writing fiction, so you have the creative license to take some liberties with scientific accuracy. However, your attention to detail and research will make your story more immersive and believable for your readers (and add easter eggs for people knowledgable about the science!). I wish you the best of luck with your writing project and encourage you to continue exploring the scientific aspects of your fictional world.
