You wake up, you feel a oddly strange feeling of vast eeriness.
Yawning and blinking away a clump of sleep, you reach out tiredly for the curtains.
You lift the curtains to reveal a world with nothing but an empty, vast wasteland.
Panic took control of your emotions. How did this happen? Where should you go?
Alone.
You'd be alone. Again. You don't want to be alone again.
(I'm gonna give this a try, hope you like it.)
Still panicking I remembered my notebook and pencil still sitting on my night stand. I frantically began searching for it, and froze when I spotted it. It was an empty notebook, I hadn't come up with anything to write in it. Tears formed in my eyes as I looked around me. Out the window was still nothing, I was still alone. Then I thought, I knew how to not be alone.
Reaching down I grabbed the notebook and pencil. I started writing, first I created a character, gave him a back story, gave him distinguishing features, and gave him a personality. I was probably there for several hours creating him.
Then I decided to do something that I had never done before. I was going to talk with him through the notebook, he could be my friend.
me: "Hello"
him: "What's up?"
me: "I'm just lonely."
him: "How come?"
me: "There's nothing here. No one here. Not much different from real life."
him: "Well… you have a phone right?"
me: "Yes…"
him: "Just call one of your friends, have them talk with you for a bit."
me: "I don't have any friends here. None except the one I'm talking to right now."
him: Oh… where are you?"
me: "In my room surrounded by a vast nothingness wasteland, and no one to be found."
him: "Sit tight, I'll be there soon."
I jumped when the last line wrote itself. The pencil rolled off the notebook onto the floor, I was staring at the words written on the last line. Then something touched my shoulder. I panicked and fell off my bed twisting around to see what it was. It was the character that I had just made. "Tolkalee???" I asked standing up looking at him. He had a smile on his face, probably from my falling off the bed. He held out his hand to me.
"Told you I'd be here soon," he laughed after a moment. I couldn't help but smile to, he had one of those contagious smiles. I didn't remember giving him that.
Shyly I reached out and took his hand. He stepped backwards, and led me out of my room. We were standing over nothing now. I about screamed, wanting to go back to the safety of my room. Tolkalee put an arm around my shoulders and pulled me into him.
The next thing I knew we were standing in a big open field I recognized this field, I had created it. Standing on a nearby hill where other characters I had created. They were waving at us, Tolkalee let go of me and jogged up to them. I watched, they talked with him for a moment, laughed then looked back down at me. They were waving at me to come with them. A smile broke out on my face as I raced forward to them. We talked for a little bit there, shared a few laughs and then set out. We were ready to have an adventure.
