I'm a very superstitious person, and I add plenty to my stories. What are some of your favorite superstitions?

That seeing a black cat is bad luck. I find that funny as there are so many people that own black cats so surely these people should be unlucky.
Walking under a ladder. If there's no one on the ladder, why should you be worried? It's not like you can't catch it, or the ladder is so heavy that it will crush you. Unless you're a small child or it's made out of lead, you have nothing to worry about!

It's funny. A few countries are superstitious that black cats are good luck!
That it's bad luck to spill salt, and you have to throw a bit of the spilled salt over your shoulder to counter that. I like that people came up with an imaginary solution to an imaginary problem XD
Definitely. How about the superstition that demons can't cross a line of salt? I've heard some funny stories come from that.
I find salt superstitions really funny 😂 like who knew cooking could be so dangerous
One superstition I know of is about knives. If you are to give someone a knife as a gift you must put a coin with it or your relationship with them will be severed.
I Find it quite funny
Coins are an interesting thing in superstitions. One is that carrying round a penny is good luck and another is that giving someone silver coins on their birthday is also good luck. I’ve only heard these things in England though.
I heard this one superstition that when you give someone a wallet as a present, you need to put a coin in with it or it could mean financial destruction for them. Better yet, make sure the coin is the year of their birth.
(I believe that's how it went.)
I’ve heard that as well!
Ok, good. I was worried that I made it up without knowing it.
My mum once did it for her sister, she combined mine and your superstitions so it contained silver coins, a penny and a coin with her year of birth on. It was while ago but I still remember it clearly.
Putting a coin in a purse when giving it as a present is just a given in Ireland. It's considered almost impolite now, not to. But it did originate from that superstition
I'm not sure if this is common in other areas with the same climate as mine, but around here there are several superstitions that are particularly prevalent among school children. They're all ones that are supposed to bring a snow day the next day:
1) flush an ice cube down the toilet
2) sleep with a silver spoon under your pillow
3) wear your pjs inside-out to bed
Are you from the Northeast, or is this a thing that everyone living in a place that gets snow does?
I'm from the Northeast, and my little brother did the flush an ice cube down a toilet thing. It worked after a couple days. lol
Yes I am indeed from the Northeast!
I'm from the northeast and I've never actually heard of that before
Finding a penny in a heads-up possition brings good luck; tails brings bad-luck.
Ooo, I've never heard that one before, I've only ever heard that finding a penny on the floor is good look and something about how you should keep that penny.

i personally like leave pennies on the floor for people to find.
The one superstition I find quite funny is Knocking on Wood: The tradition of knocking on wood to avoid jinxing yourself is funny because it's a superstitious reflex even for those who don't take superstitions seriously.
