I'm curious to see if there is a way. My favorite part of writing fantasy and sci fi is that I don't have to explain anything.
well my biggest pet peeve has always been the laser guns and lightsabers, as cool as they are, I don't think it's possible to make them like that.
on the bright side, if you want a lightsaber, make a sword out of tungsten (a metal who's melting point is 6192 degrees F) that heats itself up to like a thousand degrees, now that will cut.
If you really want a lightsaber that would work, it's not a laser or energy sword. According to one video I watched, you would need a superheated noble gas like Argon surrounded by a magnetic field to prevent it from escaping. That swoosh noise you hear might be the vacuum that sucks the gas back inside the handle!

Lightsabers could just be neon antennae that are superheated. Or just uranium that's experiencing high amounts of gamma radiation.
