In the universe section of the site, I'm curious about one of the categories. What does "Origin" mean? I can't tell if that means the origin of the idea or the origin of the actual universe. The latter would conflict with the history part, as that would include the origin (supposedly). But the former seems to overlap with the inspiration category. What is it supposed to mean?
Sometimes there are origin myths. But since the laws of physics are generally the same in my fictional universe as with this world, then I summarized a 21st century layperson understanding of colliding M-branes in quantum astrophysics (from BBC's parallel universes documentary). But in other fictional worlds, especially fantasy worlds, the more mythic or legendary origin myths will be true… even if the legends circulating about it do diverge from what actually originally happened, or maybe even those don't.
In short: it's intentionally vague and can be used however you'd like! I use "Origin" in some universes to talk about how the universe first formed, in others to talk about where I got the idea, in others to talk about what all happened before the universe, etc. You can even hide, rename, or altogether delete the field in the template editor if you prefer. It's just a nice little vague starting spot that fits most universes and gets you thinking. :)
