First I tried to upload a .webp image, then a .png image. Nothing. I tried using a different browser. Nothing. Then I tried a .jpg image and that worked, but each time I tried to upload something, even though nothing showed up, it still took up space in my gallery. How do I delete invisible files that are counting against my limit?

Also, is there a way to view the gallery independently of adding an image to a page?

Hello @Rain! When it comes to uploading photos on Notebook there are a ton of ways to get it done! So I thought I’d share my method. ^^

Since I normally use notebook on my phone, I tend to upload photos from my camera roll. However if you’re using a computer, laptop, iPad, etc. The process is still relatively the same!

As you know, you can always go back and edit your character by going back to your dashboard and pressing this red button.

When that’s done scroll all the way down until you see Gallery references!

When you click that, an option to upload your photos/files should pop up! If you’re using IOS or Android you can just upload the file from the camera roll. If you’re using a laptop however, the best method in my opinion would be to select your file, save it to your desktop, and upload the image from there! 👍 (The process should work for both .Png and .Jpeg! But as for .Webp I’m not sure.)

Here’s what it looks like for IOS. If you’re using a laptop a dialogue box should pop up, when that happens scroll to the top and click on desktop, and then your photo!

When that’s done the file should look like this.

Save the file by clicking the floppy disc. (or red button again) and the file will appear in your gallery!

As for how to delete the file, click the edit button again, go back to gallery references, and click the delete button.

You can also view your gallery independently by going to your dashboard, selecting your character, and clicking the gallery on the bottom right!

(I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions. 👏)

Thanks for the helpful post, @4lagoon4.

Just wanted to add a couple more points:

  • It looks like these ghost images counting against your upload are a bug. I just deleted them to bring you back up to where you should be (and gave you a bit of extra space for the troubles) and I'll dig into what the bug was to get it fixed. If you don't mind sharing the images that ghosted, would you share them with me so I can more easily replicate the problem? (You can upload them here, email me at andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)@indentlabs.com, or send me a DM here if you set a @username on Notebook.ai).

  • You can also view all of your uploaded images across all pages in your Data Vault (My Account > Data Vault in the sidebar) by clicking "Image uploads" there. It shows, in one place, all of your uploaded images, what pages they're attached to, how much space they're taking up, and how much upload space your account has remaining.

@4lagoon4
Sorry, but that did not address my question at all. I wasn't asking about the mechanics of uploading images. I was saying that the first few times I tried to upload an image, the site did not like the filetype and it did not show up in the gallery, and it looked like it was counting against my quota regardless. (Also, I'm on PC. I can't wrap my head around using a site like this on a mobile device with a tiny screen.)

I went to upload an image. It said I had 50 megs available. The image failed to upload. I tried to upload a different image. It said I had 49.something megs available. The image failed to upload. I tried to upload a different image. It said I had 49.slightly less megs available. The image successfully uploaded.

Now then, I did find the master gallery (my account > data vault > image uploads) and it looks like the quota report issue has taken care of itself (space taken up is exactly equal to the size of the one file in there). I could have just encountered a transient glitch or something.
