I tried to send a few PMs in the fancy new way today and came across an issue which I think may relate to people not having created a username/having a username with difficult characters.
With people I had already messaged previously, clicking the link on their profile took me to the end of our most recent discussion. All good.
With people I hadn't messaged previously, clicking the link took me to the "begin new private discussion" page with the title auto-filled as my_name their_name and the participants field auto-filled with their username. All good, except,
For some users the participants field was not auto-filled (it was blank), nor could I select their username from a dropdown when trying to type it. Trying to send a message resulted in a "Please fill out this field" popup. This seemed to be occurring with users who didn't have a @username and those with full stops in their username.
I haven't actually sent any messages to users I tested whose names were auto-filled as I didn't want to spam, I just tried to send the ones where the participants field was blank.
