So if I understand this correctly, hiding fields hides the content from people viewing your page, right? I was wondering, other than outright deleting the field (because I may need it once I switch which universe I'm working on), is there a way to just… hide it, but from yourself? Or, I don't know, a way to customize individual fields on pages would be so much more helpful than a generic editor…

Hiding fields hides the content from everyone, including yourself, when viewing a page. Any information you added to the field before you hid it won't be deleted, and you can still see it and edit it when you edit the page. You can go back to the page template later and un-hide it if you need to.

As far as I know there's no way to hide fields on individual pages, just pages within the same template, and I don't think it's possible to hide a field from when you're editing a page.

If you want to create a field that's hidden from other people but not you, just make sure the title of the field begins with "Private". I have a field on my character pages called "Private Backstory" where I add details about my characters' lives that I don't want people I share them with to see, mostly due to spoilers.

Hey @kazeharuhime, @Riorlyne has a good answer but there's also a bug right now where hidden fields aren't being hidden when you're editing/viewing a page (as they should be). I've got a release queued up to go out soon that fixes this, so "hidden" fields will actually be hidden (to everyone, including yourself) soon. Sorry for the confusion there!

Okay. That's a pretty good idea though about the private backstory thing @Riorlyne. That's too bad about individual fields not being customizable… And yeah, I'd mainly wanted to hide it from the editing menu, so I guess that's a no-go. I'll have to see if hiding it still gives me prompts for hidden fields or not though… I guess if I can't really turn them off completely without deleting them though that at least answers my question. Hope the bug gets fixed soon too.

Just wanted to pop in and say the release that fixes hidden fields showing up on edit pages is going out now, so you should see that fixed in the next few minutes. I also double checked to make sure hidden fields don't generate prompts, and that looks great. :)

Customizing individual fields per page is also a great idea, but obviously ups the complexity of using each page so I just want to make sure I do it right and don't make it confusing. Just to clarify there, were you looking to be able to add fields specific to a single page (for example, adding a "Grades in school" field to only a single character page), or were you looking to just hide specific fields on a single page (e.g. don't show Height on this page, but keep it on the others)?

The latter seems like it'd be easy enough to do by giving fields a dropdown that lets you hide fields per page, but the former might take a bit longer to build to make sure it's clear the fields you add/edit from that editor only apply to that page, and so on. All doable, but I just want to make sure I understand correctly; I appreciate the feedback!

Yeah, I think I'd like just to be able to hide fields individually per page, like the second thing you said. Adding individually would be interesting, but then it seems like it'd either be more useful to be able to do that by universe or group somehow, because like you said that could get confusing otherwise. Though… now that I think of it, if per-universe is possible, that might suit my purposes well too. That way I don't need to turn it off individually every time. Or possibly like… a switch menu for individuals. Since now that I think of it there are some instances where individual would be better than universal, though even the ability to universe-all and then turn on individual ones might be good too…
