I had some notes that I was writing, the previous day they were there, but when I logged in yesterday they were erased as if I had never written anything.
How can I recover that file?
I´m new here and I´m not sure how to handle some things. I tried sending an email to one of the admins but I haven´t received an answer yet.
Hey there, just got your email but I thought I'd respond here instead:
Were the notes in a document or a notebook page (like character, location, etc)? If in the former, you can select About > Revision Log in the top-right corner of the page when editing the document. That'll show you all the revisions of the document over time so you can copy and paste from a previous version. If it was on a notebook page you can do a similar thing by clicking "View changelog" when editing the page, which'll show every change to every field. Both of those approaches should be able to show you previous versions of each page/document!
If the page/document isn't showing up altogether, it's likely that you selected a universe to filter your notebook to (and that that page isn't in that universe). When you filter to a specific universe, it hides everything not in that universe from view. To go back to viewing all pages from all universes, you can select "All Universes" from the universe dropdown beneath "Notebook.ai", here:
It was a document, I was trying to organize some scattered notes and ideas before starting worldbuilding. Just a simple document under "Writing"
Let me try this, however, when I go into writing, I don´t see the "about" or "view changelog". However, I´m doing it half and half while reading and writing this comment, so, let me try and I´ll let you know. Thank you so much for answering and I´m sorry for being so persistent haha I´m kinda in a bit of panic a the idea of losing some notes I placed there.
— Edit: found it!! Thank you so much!!! The notes are there!
Could I have done something for them to be erased without apparent reason? I mean, to try to avoid it next time.
Thank you again!!!
Nothing should ever be erased without any apparent reason. :) I also forgot to mention: if something does get deleted (which should only ever happen when you delete something on purpose), it's also available in your Recycle Bin, which is available by going to My Account > Data vault in the sidebar and clicking Recycle Bin. Deleted pages show up there for 2 days and can be un-deleted (or permanently deleted immediately) with a single click.
For reference, this is the document menu that shows up when you edit a document; it appears when you click "About" and has a link to the Revison log for that document.
