I had acquired these..things. Nanobots, if I was correct. From the network I had gathered information. It was hard. The network was not maintained. It was old and falling apart. I was lucky it was still alive.
I was even lucky on these nanobots. They were still alive. They could help me regenerate. I realized, that without legs, I was going nowhere, even if I gathered enough energy to pull myself away from the wires that connected me to this prison.
The nanobots could assist me in making a basic structure, but as I studied my own structure, I realized I would need additional parts. Maybe acquired in not so ethical ways.
Indeed, I was an anomaly to this world. I had thought I was fully mechanical..apparently not. I had some flesh in me. I wonder what my creators were thinking when they made me..this half biological, half mechanical being.
I watched them scatter around. The nanobots were small things, compared to me. They were connected to me, however. They had pledged themselves to me. For that, I am thankful. They could manipulate certain types of matter, and they could fuse together..and un-fuse, just as easily.
I’d sent a few of them out to above. Some to gather materials. I assumed due to the heat signatures there’d be creatures above with what I needed. And others..to collect information. Visuals, rather. Things my tendrils were unable to do. At least, right now.
From their photos, I’d gathered the above is barren. Old. Dead. I’d not known why I expected more, a paradise even.
I didn’t expect one of them to try and terminate my nanobots, though.
The thing shortly after scuttled into my hive. It was soon crowded by the others, and perhaps taken to rebuild. Or whatever they did. I had seen the creature though.
By the photo, it was definitely smaller than I was. Larger than nanobots. Almost anything was. It wielded a strange piece of metal, to which it seemed to try and bash repeatedly. Fortunately, my nanobots were intelligent things.
I zeroed in on the face of it. I then reconnected to the network. Perhaps a connection could be found..though most of the creature was obscured.
I searched for a while. But I found a match.
Humans.
Something in me flickered, and I allowed the nanobot to leave, turning off its hologram, and scuttling off to work.
I had many things to decide on with this information. Could the human find itself down here somehow? Was it just the individual a threat, or are they all the same? So many questions..
With my limited radius in turning, I glanced to the frames of which were my legs, slowly coming into view. Sparks flew and nanobots ran, each with their all job. All coordinated.
I would have to figure those out later.
((The Dominator comes across some nanobots, which he uses to repair himself. He discovers along the way he shares some biological parts alongside his mechanical body, and in order for his legs and rest of his body to be compatible, he’ll need some biological parts. He’ll get them by any means necessary.))
