Yeah!
Yeah!
My day had started off pretty normal, of course that all changed when the night sky told me she was my mum. Now you may be thinking, how did I get myself in this situation. The answer to that question, I have no freaking clue!
I was walking home from theatre practice, I had cut through a deserted field when these horses, the horses had flowing manes of starlight and pelts of midnight blue, came up to me and started neighing at me. “Whoa, calm down.” Said a voice, I turned and saw a beautiful woman with long raven hair, dark eyes that seem to reflect starlight, a crown that was made of sparkly metal and, wings…Wait, why does this lady have wings? This is not normal! Nope, not normal. I don’t like not normal! I was freaking out, and by freaking out I mean full on panic. I did not like new things and a person with wings was definitely new. I sat down shakily onto the grassy ground of the field, pulling my arms across my chest. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself and not being successful. “Are you alright?” the women asked in a posh accent, leaning down to my current level.
I looked up and looked at her quizzically. “No!” I yelled, startling her. “I just met a woman with wings!” My breath was hitched and I couldn’t breath. I thought that I could get away with not taking my meds today, but boy I was wrong.
She looked a bit lost, sitting beside me. “If it helps I’m not technically a women, I’m a goddess.” She offered, at that moment I felt a bit sorry for her, her social skills were terrible. Only a bit though. “And my steeds don’t usually come up to mortals unless they are demigods, even then they rarely do.”
I narrowed my eyes and tilted my head to the side. “Wow, that makes me feel so much better.” I told her sarcastically, then paused for a moment. “Did you say demigod? Like Hercules?”
She wrinkled her nose as she answered. “Is that what people are comparing demigods too? That idiot?” She kinda looked offended. “But yes, demigods. You have the scent of one, you also remind me of this lovely woman I knew a few years ago. Lilly, I think it was. She had the most beautiful eyes, they were emerald green and sparkled in the starlight.”
“I’m going to ignore the fact that you are acting like a lovesick teen and say that my mother had emerald green eyes and was named Lily, now his name is Hector.” I said, hoping that I was somehow related to this women. She seemed so kind, not just anyone would sit next to a kid having a panic attack.
“Oh crap, oh crap. I didn't think she had a kid!” Now the nice lady was panicking, great going Bren. “His name is Hector now but…” I leaned over and patted her back awkwardly, emphasis on awkward.
The woman seemed to compose herself, she had a small smile on her face. “Well, I’m glad she- sorry, he- is happy now.” She said.
“Uh I don’t think I introduced myself, I’m Bren Hazelwood.” I said, sticking my hand out and changing the subject. She looked calmed down now, well calm enough to answer. “I’m Nox or more commonly referred to as Nyx, I’m the goddess of the night.”
I looked at her in awe and shock for a second. “Nyx, your Nyx? You’re my favorite greek god!” I squealed in excitement, Nyx stared at me for a bit then whispered. “I have a fan?” When I nodded, she grew happier. “I have a fan and a kid!” she yelled to the sky.
Nyx stopped for a moment, a wicked grin spreading on her face. “Oh Lil’ Zeus is going to be so mad.” She said gleefully.
“Lil’ Zeus?” I questioned, she nodded in agreement before explaining. “I’m technically older than him and more powerful and he has done everything in his power to stop me from ever being mentioned.”
“So, is me being a demigod relating to why a bunch of monsters looking things keep following me. They don't seem to be attacking, just kinda watching over me.” I asked, still kinda confused but happy that this awesome lady is my mum.
She gave a guilty grin and answered. “About that…”
