Hey. I love this game, and I wrote this short fanfiction. Tell me if you like it!

The boy looked up. Being stuck in the cage was horrible. He had been in arms reach of freedom, fingers brushing the vent cover that he could've used to climb out. Then long, grey fingers had wrapped around his waist, dragging him into the darkness. The putrid smell of rotting flesh made his nose sting. A grating noise started, and he quickly curled up, pretending to sleep. There was a clang, then foot steps past his cage. A door slammed. The boy looked up. Next to his cage was another cage, containing a little girl in the fetal position. It had been there for a while. When the boy first woke up, he had whisper-called to her, trying to get her attention. Then he figured it out. The girl was dead.

On top of the cage was a new cage, one that wasn't there before. That long-armed freak must've put it up there. The boy could see another child up there. They were eating something, and crunches sounded like shots in the silent room.

"Hello?" The boy whispered tentatively. The crunching stopped. The child turned toward him. It was a girl. She was wearing a yellow raincoat, with the hood pulled over her face. Her hair was dark and shaggy, and there was greasy chunks of raw meat around her mouth. The girl looked into his eyes. She had beautiful brown eyes.

"Who are you?" He asked. The girl blinked.

"They call me Six." She said. Her voice was raspy as if she hadn't used it in a while.

"And they call me Seven." The boy said. "Wanna get out of here?"

Six wiped her mouth on her sleeve. "Since the day I arrived. But how?"

Seven already had this figured out. "If you knock your cage off the edge, the top will bust off. Then you can find the key for my cage."

Six nodded and stood up. Seven couldn't see what she did next, but the cage rattled, shook, and crashed to the ground, the top flying off. They both froze, not daring to move, listening for the telltale sounds of the Janitor's footsteps. It was silent, besides the rasped breathing of a dying child coming from the wall of cages behind them. Hesitatingly, Six climbed out of the cage and climbed over to Seven's cage. She looked right at him.

"I'll get the key." She whispered. She turned to head into the office of the Janitor, but a sudden sound made them both freeze like little mice near a cat. Large, shuffling footsteps. And sounds, like a killer dragging their victim across the floor. Or, a creature dragging its freakishly large arms while making its way to a room full of cages.

"Hide!" Seven rasped. Six darted into the shadows as the same grey fingers grabbed the sides of his cage and pulled the cage into the darkness. Seven couldn't remember what happened next, but he could remember a feeling of hopelessness. And fear. Not for himself, but for Six. He was scared for Six.
