“Carissa!” Jake and Taylor were walking towards her. Carissa was sitting on a bench in the plaza, Reynold had issued a gathering. Jake, a tall blonde with naturally angry expression. Taylor, Jake’s
sister, was a small quiet redhead.

“Your arm?” Taylor lifted Carissa’s arm examining the towel tied around it. “You shouldn’t use your ability unless you have to!” the child barked. Jake watched the crowd gathering in the plaza, it
was loud people talking and shouting. The two of them had known Carissa since she arrived at Flora, Jake was a bit of a hardass, but he was there when it mattered. Taylor was a ball of kindness.

“Sorry,” Carissa said, “I always do things without thinking,” Taylor pouted at her as Jake looked over.

“Where is Cameron?” he asked,

“He’s submitting a report on what he saw when he shot the shuttle,” she explained. Jake nodded and went back to crowd watching. Taylor sat down beside Carissa, she untied the towel on Carissa’s arm
and inspected the cut before reapplying the towel.

“I heard Zaura and Angelica were at the scene,” Jake recalled.

“That so?” Carissa noticed Reynold stepping out in front of the crowd. Michael, Megan, Cameron, Zaura, and a woman she didn’t recognize followed behind him. Megan and Cameron set up a microphone as
Reynold whispered something into the mysterious woman’s ear. “Who is that?” Carissa asked.

“I think that’s the girl they found in the shuttle,” Jake remarked

“I’m going up close,” She announced standing up.
“Can I come?” Taylor exclaimed,

“Sure,” Jake watched as Carissa took Taylor’s hand and dug her thumb into her injury. The two vanished. He rolled his eyes, it wasn’t that far of a walk.
Cameron gave Reynold the microphone and stepped aside. He looked over at the mysterious woman that had come with Michael and Reynold.  She was staring at the concrete, Zaura jabbed him in the
side.

“Hey, Cameron,” she spoke quietly, Cameron barely heard her over the crowd. “Who is that?” He shrugged. Zaura was Cameron’s closest friend, as long as he remembered, she was next to him guarding
his back. Her dark brown hair was up in a bun giving her an uncharacteristically professional look. He noticed Carissa appearing towards the front of the crowd, her sudden appearance shocked some
of the people around her. She led Taylor to the front of the crowd, her empty eyes on Cameron. He had strange feelings about her. He cared deeply about her but, he could never sense any requited
feelings she always seemed like an empty shell. Zaura jabbed him again. “Hey, Cameron,” he took a deep breath. Before he could jab her back, Reynold spoke up.

“Everyone, everyone,” he said. “Let me get some things out of the way,” he tapped his umbrella softly against the concrete a few times. “First of all, Karen Brollac has been killed in action.
Second, we have not been attacked. The shuttle that crashed on the southern shore was simply this girl and Karen Brollac fleeing from Shinzen clutches,” he stepped back having the girl step up to the mic.

“Hello,” the girl said. “My name is Kaylee Heperts,” she went on, explaining that she was a spy planted by the rebel army. She fell silent after less than a minute. Reynold took back over,

“Thank you for your time,” he turned and led Kaylee away. Michael nodded at Cameron and followed after him. Zaura started talking to Megan as Cameron approached Carissa and Taylor.

“Hey,” he said gleefully, “how is your arm?”

“It’s fine,” Carissa said. Taylor gave Cameron a half-assed wave. He noticed Carissa was watching Kaylee, “who is that?” she asked. Cameron turned slightly, looking over the crowd.

“She said Kaylee Heperts or something,” he said. She nodded. “Want to get something to eat?” Her grey eyes remained on Kaylee for a moment before she responded

“Let me take Taylor back to Jake first,” she reached over to her wrapped arm.

“Whoa!” Cameron caught her wrist, “he’s like right there, no need to do that,” she nodded again. Jake was actually quite far away.

Reynold and Michael led Kaylynn to Reynold’s office in the largest building.

“Sir, you have a message from Zatoi,” Eric, a moderately sized man with black hair informed, following behind the group.

“In a minute,” Reynold said entering his office. Eric walked away. Michael closed the door after Kaylynn walked inside. “Kaylynn,” Reynold said. “Go live your life,” Kaylynn clasped her hands
together. “Forget about your family, you’re safer not bothering with them,”

“What about the war?” she asked.

“I created this place for safety,” Reynold explained. “There are rebels out there fighting their war but here, it is not our fight,” Kaylee Heperts smiled.

“That’s just what I wanted.”
