It was chaos. Blood was seeping into the dirt, staining the vibrant green blades of grass red. Three figures stood back-to-back in the center of it all, their breathing heavy, but steady, their hands gripping their bo staffs tightly.
Soft clapping broke the trance they were in, their backs sagging slightly and hands relaxing. The scene faded; blood, bodies, and field disappearing around them. The woman at the center reached her hand out, accepting the other staffs from the two boys, Calios and Theo.
"Thanks, Kat" was the sole response from Calios.
"You guys were great!" Aila's smile lit the gray room up, her small ferret, Esurio, perched on her shoulder. Aila had the closest bond with her companion, the small ferret traveling with her everywhere she went.
Theo tilted his head, a small smile gracing his lips as Lues, his companion, landed on his outstretched hand. The Steller sea eagle was large, his vivid white feathers settling down as Theo softly whistled a children's tune to him. Theo rarely ever spoke, his few sentences never being above a whisper.
"Aila, where were you? We would've waited for you to start but you never showed up."
Katirah's smile was kind, but Aila could her the interrogative tone hidden beneath the smile. Aila glanced downwards, her hands held in front of her as she thought about what to say.
"Res requested to meet with me, he asked me to inform you guys that we're meeting after practice." She hated how her voice made her seem small.
Kat gave an absentminded nod, her hand running through Neco's thick fur, who had made his way beside her while Aila was speaking and was currently walking circles around her. She vaguely remembered the last time she was allowed to visit the Headmaster's office.
"Tell Res that we'll be there in 20 minutes." Kat's voice was sharp, leaving no room for arguing.
"It's your head on the line, not mine."
His voice was awful. Harvel decided that immediately upon meeting him. Headmaster Motom was a tall, slender man. His clipped gray hair, taunt cheekbones, and sharp blue eyes gave him an eerie feel.
"A seven in Defence, an eight in Offence, and an eight in Academics. That is quite impressive for a Prime's son to get on the DOA Admission test."
Harvel tilted his head in gratitude. "Thank you, Sir"
Motom gave no sign of emotion, his hands moving to pick up a thick, black file from his desk. "I have sent for the team you will be joining. They are a level nine team so you will be slightly behind but I feel with your scores you can catch up quickly."
"Sounds good, Sir. Will Nivues be allowed to stay with me?"
Motom nodded, his eyes focusing behind Harvel, his hand raising to motion for someone to come in.
"Glad to see you have made it Res, I am assuming the Horsemen will be here soon."
Harvel glanced over his shoulders, his gunmetal eyes focusing on the figure behind him.
"Yes, Sir. They'd have just gotten out of Martial Arts. Viius will most likely have them change before they get here."
Motom turned his gaze back to Harvel, "Res, I would like you to meet Harvel Kolvr, son of Dem Ayebrem."
"A Prime." Res's eyes widened, a look of understanding passing across his face.
Motom noded. "We must keep it a secret he is here. I have already spoken to all of the Masters here, but I am worried about whether or not we shall tell the Horsemen that-"
"Tell the Horsemen what exactly?"
Harvel turned around, his eyebrows drawing together as he looked at the figure in the doorway.
"Lady Viius, lovely for you and your team to join us. I would like to introduce you to the newest addition to your team, Wren Whitaker."
Harvel's eyes widened before he stood and offered his hand to Lady Viius. She glared down at his hand, her heterochromatic eyes staring at it for a few seconds before turning away from him. She was of average height, her gray and gold hair was braided over her shoulder. She took a couple of steps forward, allowing the three people behind her to enter the room. Two men and another woman.
Harvel took imidate notice of their attire, the matching set of ornate gray and gold robes. He gave the other three a quick look over before turning his attention back to Motom.
"Excuse me, Sir, but why are we getting a new member when the Trials are in a month?" This time it was the other woman. Her hair fell in long braided twists around her shoulders, the maroon-colored hair ending just above her waist. He noticed they all had heterochromatic eyes, all of their right eyes were dark gold.
"Aila, I understand your concern but he has scored high enough that it is of no concern of mine that his addition will affect any of you negatively." Motom's voice was sharp, the sound causing a look of embarrassment to filter across Aila's face. Motom stood up from his chair and held out the thick file to Lady Viius. "You have three days to get him ready, he takes the Tyrc on the fourth day. Res, if you could please escort these five back to their dormitory."
