"Yes." she replied, trying her best to sound sure of herself as she hopped into the drivers seat and put the car into ignition.
"Yes." she replied, trying her best to sound sure of herself as she hopped into the drivers seat and put the car into ignition.
Ellis climbs into the passenger and gets out a breath that he felt that he had been holding this whole time. He stares straight ahead, “so…where are we going?”
"Going to my aunts house to pick my mother freaking dog" she replied, stepping on the gas and pulling out of the parking lot
He brightens up slightly, more than he had ever been seen, but even then that’s not much, “a dog?”
"Yes! My baby pug that she took but not me." she replied, feeling his presense birghten next to her
“…I used to have a dog..well not have one…but it visited often and i would feed it” Ellis smiles and looks out of the window
"That's nice" she hummed, looking over an smiling at him gently
He looks down at his hands, “yeah…it was nice…how long has it been since you’ve seen your dog?”
"About two years. I made my aunt promise that she'd take good care of him and if she couldn't send him to a shelter and say when I got out he'd be waiting there for me" she replied, noticing that her wrists her showing. She shrugged her sleeves back down and continued to drive, hoping he hadn't seen the scars
Ellis stares curiously at her wrists for a moment before back down at his own hands, “where do we go after your aunts’ house? Do we stay? Or do we just keep driving until we’re out of gas?”
"Well, I was thinking we'd probably have to book a hotel room for the night. The cheapest as it can get" she replied, a pink tint growing across her cheeks as she realized she'd probably have to get a room with just one bed
“That’s a good plan..I scrounged up some money from the wards around, you know some pick pocketing skills put to the test” he points to the bags in the back, “all the money is in there”
"Good" she replied, trying to cover her blush. She turned left and they were almost there
He looks closer, “are you feeling alright? Your face is awfully pink”
Dangit! "Yeah, I'm fine! What do you mean pink?" she exclaimed, her sleeve muffling her words
“Just kinda…blush-y” he giggles slightly, before trying to play off the giggle as a cough, “but if you’re sure you’re fine..”
She rolled her eyes sarcastically, "pfft, of course I'm fine. I've always been fine" she explained, half of the sentance being untrue
“always?” He asks suspiciously
Her breath got caught in her throat. She absoloutly hated lying and hated people who lied to her so she mumbled instead of saying a flat out "no…"
“No one has always been okay” He says, matter-of-factly, “there’s times when I think I’m never going to be okay. And there’s other times where I wonder, ‘when will I be not okay?’” He seems to be talking more to himself than anyone else
A simple "yeah" sufficed for a response, this being a subject she didn't talk about in the open, not since her grandmother had died
He quickly quiets, messing with the knobs on the radio, trying to find something to listen to
"Anyways…" she hummed, watching him flip through channels, "We're almost there" she finished
(I gtg. goodnight)
“Thank goodness” he whispers, “not that I hate being around you or anything!” He says quickly, “I just…you know..”
"I don't, but it's ok" she replied, brushing her hair off of her shoulder as she made another left turn
