“We could- We could tell the police about them! The police will help,” Rose said in a rushed tone.

"They do jackshit, Rose. I tried it every day when I used to be younger."

“But we could always try,” Rose pressed, looking at Leon with big eyes.

"I already did, Rose," He said resisting the urge to say yes because of Rose's face.

Rose shifted in his seat, kicking off his sneakers and pulling his legs up to sit criss-cross. “There has to be something,” he whined, resting his chin against his palm, elbow against his thigh.

"There isn't," He said as he got up to throw the empty bag of chips away.

Rose looked up and over his shoulder at Leon now. “But there’s always a way, Leon,” he said.

"Then I'd like to find a way to escape my hellhole," He said.

“I said you could stay here to get away from them,” Rose persisted, picking at one of his already short fingernails.

"But I don't want to bother you. You're a great friend and everything but I'm more used to being solo."

(Sorry! If I randomly vanish really at any time, just assume I got distracted studying for exams)

“You wouldn’t be a bother, and I understand that, but it might not be safe for you to go off on your own,” Rose murmured.

"It's fine, Rose," He with a whine in his tone.

Rose ran a hand over the back of his neck and huffed. “I just want you to be okay..”

"I will be, if I'm not okay then I'll camp here for that night," He said as he ran a hand through his ebony black hair.

Rose sighed softly now and nodded slowly. “Okay,” he mumbled.

"What are your hobbies?" he asked out of nowhere, to make the situation less awkward.

Rose blinked a few times, slightly taken aback from the sudden change. “Oh, um, I like to read and sketch things,” he said. “You?”

"Same here actually, and I like to take photos," He said while smiling.

“Really? Of what?” Rose asked, sitting up now.

"Anything I find beautiful," He chuckled a little at how Rose changed his posture when Leon said that he takes photos.

“That’s really nice,” Rose said, smiling slightly now. Photography. He liked the idea of that.

"I can show you some photos," He said excitedly. He's always wanted feedback on his photos so he could improve.

“Please!” Rose suddenly exclaimed, seeming interested and excited.

"Hold on!" He said as he took out the camera that he grabbed before they left, and found a photo that she really proud of. It was a photo of a girl standing in a forest with smoke everywhere(https://i.imgur.com/bqC7Bpm.jpg) "I swear to god this was so hard."
