(Eh, why not? As long as you've read through all the information and rules, I don't mind. Go ahead and post your character template when you're ready! Though, would you do me a favor and wait for @Desvelarse to respond before you add any story?)

(Sorry for the delay, been very very busy!)

When Lucy had been addressed by the guard, she frowned. “Can’t I do both?” she pressed. She was surely able to protect others along with protecting herself. It would be more difficult, yes, but it wasn’t impossible either. Not caring about others in such a serious situation seemed a bit selfish.

Lucy didn’t have much more time to come up with an actual plan before Xander seemed to have already decided on one. She watched as Xander slung the grappling hook towards the guard, the rope wrapping around his torso. If the man was incapacitated, that would give them plenty of time to get the pokeball and subdue whatever pokémon may be inside.

The moment the guard was knocked to the ground, Lucy moved. She left Drew for the first time since they had met, darting towards the guard. If she was able to get the pokeball out of his hand, then he would be practically defenseless. Having a pokémon with them would also put them at a high advantage as well.

(No worries!! Believe me, I know the feeling lol.)

The Guard shifted his body weight to his left foot, away from the lip of the chasm, in time for the rope to wrap around his waist. He didn't fight it, and Drew frowned at the man's change in expression. It wasn't easy to read, but something about it… He looked to be in pain.

'Was he hurt fighting the rebels?' If so, that would work to their advantage. They just had to figure out where he was hurt.

As the rope pulled taut, no doubt Xander's attempt to force him to the ground, the Guard went easily. Too easily.

"Wait, Lucy!" Drew called, but the Guard was already springing into action. He used the force of his fall to roll into a crouch and yank on the grappling hook so hard the younger boy was pulled along with it—right into Lucy.

Drew leapt forward, bolting to the slack of rope on the ground and stomping on it before the Guard could use it against the other recruits again. He scowled at her, and Drew merely raised her hatchet out of her bag in response. She threw her backpack off to the side, never taking her eyes off her enemy even as he began to unwind the grappling hook from his torso. He was struggling to do so, she noted. His expression twisted further every time he rose his arm over his head.

Before he could fully disentangle himself, Drew saw her chance. She launched herself forward, hatchet flying out in a wide arc in preperation to swing. Inches away from the Guard's arm, though, the one holding the pokeball captive, a blur of motion caught her by surprise. Something slammed into the handle of her hatchet, jarring her shoulder so badly she nearly dropped her weapon.

Drew stumbled backwards to see the man spinning a quarterstaff in his free hand. An extendeable one, she figured, given the quickness it which it had appeared. The Guard swept the staff to the side, stepping out of the now loose coils of rope that Xander had imobilized him with before. "I was right. You are impulsive," he said, looking right at Xander as he did. It didn't sound so much like a critique this time.

A drop of sweat slid down Drew's temple, and she tightened her grip around the hatchet nervously. She backed up further, until she was standing in line with the other recruits, shooting them concerned glances. "Anyone have a plan?" she mumbled under her breath, side eyeing the man as she did. She blinked, and the Guard was running.

Drew cried out in surprise, barely raising the hilt of her hatchet in time to catch the quarterstaff's blow. 'It's weak!' she realized, noting the Guard's one-handed weilding. Why doesn't he just drop the pokeball…?' There was no chance to pursue the thought. The follow up blow was far less weak, forcing her back several steps, and the Guard used the new space to lash out at Xander.

(Heads up, Axel: When you have your character ready, you'll be set to respond! The order will be myself, manglo, desvelarse, and then you. If you want help staging an entrance for your character, feel free to shoot me a dm!)

“Nope.” Xander replies, scrambling to his feet as he tries to defend.
So that hadn't gone as planned. But, it hadn't gone poorly. Xander had expected the guard to have released the pokemon if the maneuver had failed, yet he decided to fight them in melee. A pokemon was almost always a win if your opponents had none, the absoluteness varying depending on the strength of the pokemon. But the guard isn't using the pokemon for some reason. Perhaps they thought the rebels weren't enough of a threat, or he was cocky. Whatever the reason, that's why Xander and the others weren't already goners. They had a chance! Xander stands on his feet, ready to catch a quarterstaff strike when it comes his way.

Xander being yanked into Lucy had been a startling thing. She wasn't sure why she had expected things to be so easy. Of course the guard wouldn't let them get so close to stealing the pokeball away from him. The impact of the man's body against hers sent her tumbling to the ground in a heap. She yelped upon impact, having skinned the heels of her palms and slightly bumped her head. She hissed from the mix of a stinging and dull pain, forcing herself to scramble back to her feet to put distance between herself and the guard.

Now a bit further away, Lucy was able to catch her breath and gather herself after the impact. Her bag had been dropped; a couple of the items having been spilled out onto the ground. Watching as the guard swung his staff at Drew and Xander, she knew she couldn't hang back and do nothing. The guard hadn't brought out his pokemon yet- why? That would end the fight almost immediately. There was something wrong with the situation. A thought came to mind- what if the ball was a bluff?

Lucy dropped to grab her bag, digging inside of it. There were various pouches of berries and a few potions, nothing that could help them right at the moment. Though, a small green pouch caught her attention- bright powder. While it was used to lower the accuracy of a pokemon's moves, she had no idea whether it would work on human's or not. Even if it was unable to do, throwing a powder into the guard's face could serve as a distraction or annoyance, possibly getting into his eyes and causing temporary loss of sight.

Removing it from her bag, she moved closer to the fight. She watched as the guard swung the staff at Xander. Once Xander was able to catch onto it, that put the guard in place and kept his hand occupied for just enough time. She hurried close, ripping the bag open and flinging its contents into the guard's face before jumping backwards into a retreat. She had to hope it was enough of a distraction for one of the others to either get the pokeball or get a hit on the guard.

One of the guards suddenly get pulled into the dark… after a little time, he runs from the darkness, dropping his staff quickly. Alex crawls from the dark, staring at the other guard, before grabbing the staff and slamming it in between his legs. The guard scrunches up in pain, falling to the ground and groaning.

Alex stands up, coughing up a black goo, wiping his mouth… "Ugh… every time… every time I get a little excited… yuck… bleh… bad taste…" He pulls out a canteen, washing out his mouth and spitting… the liquid on the ground seems to dry out, acting almost like a glue… it bubbles slightly…

Alex notices the two trainers… "Oh… hi… I wasn't expecting to see anyone else… uh…" He looks around nervously, before his stomach growls slightly…
