Elliot smiled occasionally, their gaze not moving from the world outside the window.

The cafe was soon in sight. Tyler pulled up to the curb. "This is your stop, Elliot. Thank you for coming." Tyler kissed Elliot. "Good night."
“Well thanks for asking me. I had fun” they smiled before kissing his cheek lightly. “Goodnight Tyler.”
Tyler made sure that Elliot got inside okay, and then started driving to his apartment. Once he got inside, he petted his dog and headed to bed. It had been a good night.
Elliot still couldn’t believe all that had happened. They smiled and let themselves back inside the shop, making sure to lock the door behind them.
Tyler fell asleep pretty quickly. Of course, his sleep was tormented by the same nightmare as it had been for most of his life.
There is a darkened room with three figures. One is in a chair, one standing behind the chair, and a third, seemingly younger, was crying. "Please, sir! Don't hurt her!" the one on the floor, the boy, cried. The woman in the chair was his mother. There's a gunshot, and the boy cries. The woman is dead.
Tyler wakes up screaming like he does every night. Elise came bolting in and hopped on the bed. Most people didn't know that Elise was an emotional support animal. Tyler started to calm down. "Thanks, girl," he whispered to the floof on his bed. "I really needed that."
Elliot didn’t sleep much that night. What did it all mean? Niq, one of their own, was here, Elliot hadn’t seen someone like them since they left home. Whatever brought them here, it couldn’t be good. They gathered all the information they already knew. Niq was an assassin, that much was obvious by the bracelet around their wrist. But who was she here to kill?
The morning came, but only after a restless night. The sun came up, Tyler fed Elise, and they started walking to the cafe. He hoped that Elliot had gotten more sleep than him. That would be an easy feat.
Elliot had gotten up early, giving up on sleep. They had just opened the cafe a few minutes ago and now sat at a table with a mug of coffee, waiting for customers.
Tyler walked in and saw Elliot at the table. He smiled brightly. "Hey, Elliot!" Tyler walked over to the table and kissed Elliot's cheek. "How'd you sleep last night?"
“Okay, I guess.” They smiled sleepily. “Currently this coffee is the only thing keeping me awake.” They chuckled to themselves and took another long sip. “Can I get you anything?”
"Black coffee. I barely slept last night." Tyler yawned. "And a treat for my girl."
“Aw you poor thing, I’ll get you that coffee as soon as I can” they hopped to their feet.
"Thank you, my love." he started smiling. "Yeah, I had a nightmare last night. Did you get any sleep at all?"
Elliot shrugged “I honestly have no idea. As far as I can tell, I didn’t sleep at all” they sighed and started to make his coffee.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Why couldn't you sleep? Was it that Niq human who so rudely interrupted our show?" Tyler asked, sounding almost like a mother.
Elliot chuckled lightly. “Yeah I guess she was part of it…mostly it just got me thinking about home. Which led down a road of very dangerous thoughts…”
(last post of the night, sorry!)
"That sucks, Elliot, I'm sorry. If it makes you feel any better, my nightmare was about my mother…" Tyler stopped here for fear of breaking down. He didn't want to put any more pressure on Elliot.
“Jeez Tyler that doesn’t sound fun.” They looked over at him with slight concern. “Are you okay?” They asked gently.
((K night!))
"Remember the part last night where I said I didn't know what 'okay' was anymore?" Tyler asked. "Cuz that' sure as hell how I'm feeling."
They sighed lightly. “Sorry Tyler, I’m just worried about you.”
"You don't need to be. I've been dealing with this for most of my life." Ever since I was eight and saw my mother murdered. he thought with dismay.
Elliot walked over and just silently gave him a big hug.
Tyler started crying again. "Thank you," he whispered. "I needed that. Again."
“Anything to make you feel at least a little bit better.” Elliot replied quietly.
