After running down the long, empty corridors of the palace, he ripped open the door to his parent's room, speed walking to his fathers bedside, taking his weak and tired hands in his own.
"Pai, what happened?" He whimpered, gently squeezing the kings hand.
"I don't have much time my son," he spoke out, voice hoarse as he began to cough.
"Father you can't leave us, who will rule the kingdom? We need you to lead! We-" He was cut off by his father, who gently ran his vacant hand through his son's blonde hair lovingly.
"Don't you worry child, I am leaving them in good hands, you are my son. The Reaper Prince, and soon you will take my name and throne. I know you will be a great king, you just have to find your own way."
"Pai, I can't do this alone." Ace said, his voice coming out in a whisper as he held his father's hand with both of his own. Jay let out a pained laugh, a gentle smile spread across his face.
"Who said you are doing this alone? You have our people, your loyal subjects who are willing to give their life for you. They know this won't be easy, and they will support you along the way." He began to cough again, weakly squeezing his Ace's hand, before letting out a 'make me proud, son' before closing his eyes, his face relaxing, a content smile spread across his face.
"Pai? Pai?!" Ace shook his father by his shoulders, face soaked with tears, "Help! Someone help!"
Hearing his cries both healers and reapers made their way into the room.
"Get him out of here."
Staring at the ground, frozen he allowed the pair of reapers pull him out of the room.
"Eu vou fazer você orgulhoso pai."
