Ryle’s brow furrowed as he watched her walk away. He pushed himself off the wall and walked to his coaches office and knocked gently on the door.
“Hey coach can i get the keys to the locker room? i need to clear my head.”
“Sure son, anything you wanna talk about?” Coach Williams handing him the keys.
“No sir. Just wanted to work it off.” Ryle took the keys and walked to the locker room.
Weeks passed and Star hadn´t spoken a word to Ryle or Jaxson. She sat at the lumch table alone playing with her salad with her fork.
Ryle stared at Star from across the cafeteria. He’d spend most of his time working out or in practicing, trying to get his mind off of her. the only issue was she was a cheerleader, and was at everyone of his games cheering. He picked at his lunch tray and eventually shoved it aside and laid his heads in his arms, and Jaxon patted his back. Ryle had refused to talk about why he was upset, but still managed to keeps it mostly together for his games.
Star had every guy hitting on her flirting grabbing her waist but she pushed them aside because there was only one guy on her mind but she hadn't spoke to him in a while
Ryle sat with his head in his arms for a few minutes and couldnt bear sitting there knowing she was there too. He got up, slung his backpack over his shoulder and snatched up his tray. He tosses the food in the garbage and took off out the cafeteria door into the hallway, he walked quickly and took turns sharply. But a minute later he ended up at his destination and slowed down, took a breath, and walked into his AP Bio classroom. Mr. Martins, his teacher, looked up from the paper he was grading and raised his eyebrow.
"Would it be okay if i spent the period in the library? I've had a lot on my plate recently and could use a minute to breathe and get caught up on some work. I'll do todays classwork and have it to you first thing tomorrow."
"Sure kiddo, were continuing our work on DNA. Here's the notes packet and worksheet. I'll email you the notes presentation in 10-15 minutes." Mr. Martins handed him the papers and went back to grading.
Ryle walked back down the hallway towards the library, at a slower pace than before.
Star put her head down her legs hurt and for some reason so did her heart she saw ryle walk out in her heart broke she quickly dumped her tray and rushed out of the cafeteria she took a deep breath and ran to the bathroom crying her eyes out she passed by the library crying she sat against the stall door in the bathroom and cried and she didn't even know why
Ryle had almost made it to the library when he saw a familiar looking blur zoom past him. Ryle followed said blur down the hallway and it hit him. It was Star. His breath hitched and he took off after her. She made it to the bathroom before he could reach her and he hit the wall by the bathroom entrance.
' She'd been crying.' he thought. 'And I didn't even notice it was her until it was too late. He slid down the wall across from the bathroom entrance and put his head in his hands. He decided to wait for her to come back out to check on her, just like she checked on him all those weeks ago, before they had stopped talking abruptly.
Star sniffled " what's wrong with me why do I have to fall for people I can't have" she said she splashed her face with cold water and walked out her eyes were red and puffy and she was sniffling.
Ryle saw her come out of the bathroom and quickly got up from the floor, leaving his bag up against the wall. He didn't say anything, and enveloped her in his arms and pressed her against his chest.
Star' s breath got stuck in her throat but she didn't hesitate to wrapp her arms around him ' pressing her cheek against his chest. Her heart was beating a thousand times per second and she was positive Ryle could feel it
Ryle held her for a moment, soaking up her warmth, wishing he'd have done this sooner. He took a deep breath in and stepped back half a step and looked down at her.
"What's wrong?" Her eyes were still bloodshot from crying, but none the less he was still taken aback by just how gorgeous she was.
She laughed a bit and rubbed her eye " it's nothing really just crying over a guy" she said.
"Do I need to beat somebody up?" he said mostly serious but with a small chuckle.
She bit her lip with a smile " have you ever fallen for someone that I hurts to be around them because you. Know you can never have them" she asked.
Ryle's hands drop from around her and all but smack his legs. "Yea, umm i have." He looked down at her, hoping to God she couldn't tell he was talking about her.
'Idiot, she'll never like you' he thought to himself. 'what would a girl like that want with a guy like me'
"well thanks" she said and started to walk off after kissing his cheek gently.
He scooped down and threw his bag on his shoulder and walked to catch up with her. "You never answered my question ya know. Do I need to beat somebody up? Any guy that doesnt want to be with you is an idiot." he bit his lip after he said that, hoping he didn't reveal himself too much.
"well then I guess your an idiot" star said admitting her feelings buy she kept her eyes forward going the same pace.
Ryle’s eyebrows furrowed and then he stopped in his tracks. He was taken aback by her statement, both that she called him an idiot because he’d been thinking that for a solid few minutes now, and also why she called him an idiot. His instincts told her she wasn’t going to stop walking unless he stopped her, so he grabbed her hand and spun her around to face him.
“who told you i didn’t want to be with you?” he said, still holding her hand from turning her around.
" it's pretty obvious Ryle" she said looking down at her feet
Ryle let go of her hand and put his hand under her chin, lifting her head to force her to look at him. He looked down at her for a moment and then spoke. "No, Star, it's not. And it most definately shouldn't be." he said, searching her eyes for an answer for why she'd think that.
She sighed " Ryle I'm a blonde freak I live in my basement my mom's a druggie I'm obsessed with werewolfes no guy wants me" she said.
Ryle crossed his arms acrossed his chest "not with that attitude i don't" he said putting his chin up in the air and trying to hold in a chuckle, and failing miserably.
Star sighed again as she shook her head she turned in her heel and started to walk away.
Ryle stopped laughing and peered to where Star was… or used to be. He looked up and saw her a few feet away, walking away again. He jogged after her, this time stepping in her path.
"Would you stop doing that? Please just talk to me." He said, shoving his hands into the pockets of his pants.
