"No, you can ask people who will show you proof." Yesim answered, not looking up from her work.
"No, you can ask people who will show you proof." Yesim answered, not looking up from her work.
"And you're not concerned about it? It would never happen, Yesim. A hoax." She turns back to her work also.
"You always say that, Brooke." Yesim replied, moving some of her out of her face as she worked.
"And I'm always right. An accountant has to be rational." She concentrated on the screen.
"I know." She concentrated on her screen as well.
“But I guess I’ll look into it, if you insist.” She rolled her shoulders in boredom. “My hours are almost over.”
"Lucky." She concentrated on her screen, wanting to get her work done.
"You can come over to my house later, if you want." Brooke suggested. "I have no other work to do. Do you?"
"I don't have any other work after this so I can come." Yesim replied.
"Okay. Get some time to relax." She rolled her head. "I'm getting stiff."
"Okay then." She replied, trying to quickly finish her work.
Brooke logged off of her computer, spinning around in her chair and taking a swig from her water bottle. She stood. "I'll be in the car waiting, Yesim."
"Got it, Brooke." Yesim nodded slightly, quickly doing her work.
Brooke slid into the car, turning the keys and the AC.
Maybe we should drive by the turnoff, just to see… She thought idly.
Yesim quickly finished her work and slid into Brooke's car, "Hey."
"Hey." She shut her door and pressed the pedal. "I want to drive by the turnoff and look around, just to see if it's all real."
"Okay then, do what you want to do." Yesim said, looking out the window as they drove.
"Well, maybe poke around a bit - people will go far to make things appear real." She drove in the direction of the turnoff. "When we're home, we can do whatever - I don't really have a plan."
"Sounds good to me." She moved some hair out of her face.
Eventually they reached the turnoff.
There were five dead bodies strewn across the road. Brooke slammed on the brake and turned the car off, getting out.
Yesim got out, standing behind Brooke while looking at the bodies.
(no offense but…if she's a pacifist shouldn't she be shocked?)
"We need to see if they're real." Brooke walked to the trunk and pulled out a long car pole. Trodding nervously up to one of the bodies. She poked it, and blood came spilling out of a wound.
(she's already seen it so she's used to it)
Yesim quickly looked away while covering her eyes.
(ah)
"Yes, that's alive." Brooke shivered and turned to Yesim. "Do the police know about this?"
"I don't know." She said, still not looking at the bodies.
