Colin blinked a few times to adjust to the bright morning light. He was surprised that he had fallen asleep at all. In fact, he didn't even remember falling asleep in the first place. Colin rubbed his eyes as he stood up, brushing the loose dirt from his clothes. The other children slept around him, but he didn't wake them up. They needed as much sleep as they could get before Peter came.
Colin’s movement shook Jasper, who had been next to him, awake. The tall boy squinted up at Colin through a haze before tapping his leg and waving a little.
Colin jumped when he felt a tap on his leg, but a smile crossed his face once he realized who it was. "Ah, good morning Jasper." Colin made sure to stay positive for the other kids.
“Good morning,” Jasper signed back. He looked around at the other kids, trying not to jostle them. “Do you know when… he’s going to come?”
Colin turned towards the entrance of the large cell they were trapped in. The cell in the branches of a large tree, which Colin had only seen once. "He always comes to check on us in the morning," Colin said after a few seconds of silence. "Just to make sure none of us escaped. I'm sure he'll do the same today."
Jasper slumped back against the wall of the cell. For some reason, today, he felt more like giving up than ever. “I miss Phoebe,” he signed feebly (ha, Phoeb-ly), face downcast. He didn’t talk about Phoebe a lot, just that she was his older sister.
Colin sat down next to him, patting Jasper's shoulder. "Don't worry, we'll get out of here soon and then we can all have family reunions." He didn't believe a word of what he just said, but he wasn't about to bring down the mood with the truth.
Jasper gave him a look before sighing and putting his head on Colin’s shoulder, resigning himself to waiting for Peter.
Lovino shifts and looks at them “guys is he is he here?” He asks stuttering his words not wanting to speak Peters name yet.
Colin heard a small thump outside of the cell. "He is now." The door swung open, and in came Peter Pan himself. His expression grew more and more irritated with each passing day, and Colin was unsure if that was a good thing. Colin stood up and instinctively stepped forward so he was in front of the other kids. He didn't usually hurt them, but Colin never knew when it came to Peter Pan.
Lovino shot up as straight as a rod and stepped next to Colin his hair tied back with a red ribbon.
Jasper reached up for Colin’s hand, wanting to pull him back. He settled for giving it a quick squeeze before curling back in on himself and looking away.
Peter squinted his eyes as he counted all of the children in the cell. Colin made sure to give the other boy a dirty look when they made eye contact. "I see you're all here." Colin almost flinched at the sound of Peter Pan's voice. He rarely spoke to the children, but when he did Colin was reminded of his shrill voice that sucked the life out of the room. "I'll be back tonight. Escape, and face the consequences." With that, Peter left.
Lovino sat next to Jasper and taped his shoulder “can I may I umm can I lay with you?” He asks feeling scared and like he was going to scratch his arms.
Colin let out a breath he didn't know he'd been holding. Peter was gone…for now. They were safe, until tonight at least. Colin knew that it was best to act like Peter was around all the time, because sometimes he made surprise visits during random times of the day. One of those visits got a kid fed to the mermaids only last week.
Jasper, being Jasper, didn’t respond and just tried to go back to sleep.
Lovino layed back on the wall and sighed drawing his nails up and down his arms up and down ‘shit!’ He thinks standing up and walking to the other side of the room his nails still digging into his skin like a knife through tinfoil.
Colin made his way over to the front of the cell, where the thick metal bars kept them imprisoned. There was a small chest there that held their meals, which consisted of concrete rolls. It was the middle of the week and the chest was nearly empty. That's not good. We don't get more food for another four days. Still, Colin acted as if nothing was wrong. He took out a roll for everyone in the room and began passing them out like he did every morning.
//goodnight Alexandria!
Jasper eyed the roll he was given before ripping it in half and offering the other half to Colin. He wasn’t very hungry, and someone else could probably use it more. Especially Colin, with everything he did for the kids.
Colin shook his head. "You need to eat all of it. It'll keep you energized and healthy." He told Jasper. "Thank you for offering, though."
Elle stepped out of the corner of the cage. "He is gone right?"
Lovino looks up at them his arm bleeding a bit “I’m not hungry.” He states looking at his arm “oh god I did it…..”
Pike sat up, gasping. Another nightmare… she thought, running a hand through her hair. Pike rubbed her eyes, and saw the self-declared leader of the group, Corbin, passing out concrete rolls. Her stomach grumbled and she willed it to stop. Pike didn't want any extra attention.
Jasper noticed Pike’s stomach grumbling and offered her half of his roll.
