The families in New Orleans are well known, though only whispers among the cobbled streets, wary of being spoken too loud. They've been here for years, decades, maybe even centuries, known for some of the family's parties, to their events, to who they have threatened, and even to the powers they are rumored to possess. Each of these four families have stayed out of one another's ways, save for only a few quarrels here and there, mostly going about their own business. Only, this solitary will begin to fracture when children and descendants of these families begin to meet on a fateful night. (This is based around the late 1800's to early 1900's, so keep that in mind)

The Families: (Sorry in advance, this will be rather long, but it's worth reading…)

The Reapers: Also known as the Catoire family. Being one of the younger families, they have had to earned their place through a history of defeats and losses, but uprisings, earning them the titles of being a deadly enemy and as lethal as the Reaper himself. The members themselves are rather peaceful, only striking when they feel the need to, but wonderful negotiators as well. Their features range from auburn, red and brown hues, and dark eyes, easily recognizable in the streets. The Catoire's have the ability to reap what has been taken and belongs to them. Ruled by the Major Arcana Cards; Justice (The aspects of decisions and karma), Death, and The Tower) Most important descendants: The Red Ladies Inspired by these images: https://www.deviantart.com/jannaphia/art/THE-HARVEST-769283718, https://i.pinimg.com/originals/83/63/0e/83630e060efd071e1a2bcde9e3e971da.jpg)

The Necromancers: Also known as the LaTour Family. This is one of the oldest families and one of the most prestigious ones, held in high regards. The members are limited and few, not seen by many, though their presence is constantly felt. They tend to be peaceful, mysterious, and hard to read, though headstrong and know how to keep their place. LeTour's are known for their darker skin, ranging from caramel to obsidian tones, auburn eyes and the strange marks that they carry with them. This family's powers are strange and dark, giving them the ability to speak and raise armies of the dead…a power that cannot be placed in the wrong hands. Ruled by the Major Arcana Cards; Death, The Hanged Man, Wheel of Fortune, Strength.) The Seers: Also known as the Ardoin Family. Dangerous. A word that follows them constantly. Their ability to see and perceive, adapt and understand can be lethal, but helpful to those they are allied with. The Ardoin's are also among the oldest families, their history lengthy, as if they've been here from the beginning. The members of this family can be odd, very versatile in personality, though extremely wise. Recognizable by their lighter hair and skin, though they are usually affected by a lack of sight in most, earning them grey or watery blue eyes. Ruled by the Major Arcana Cards; The Moon (Dreams, Visions, Fears) The High Priestess and the Fool. The Shifters: Also known as the Mounier Family. This family can be strange, confusing most that meet them. Their ability to shift into lanky creatures, shadows, or even devils can terrify most, earning them a righteous spot in the streets. The Mounier's never quite have family traits that stay the same, some blondes, other brunettes, ranging to obsidian black locks, and the same, ever changing eyes. Be wary of them, for they are never as they seem. Yeah, for sure!

Of course topaz!

Awesome, I’ll make my Shifter in a bit! Is it okay if she’s…… insane?

Yeah, that's totally fine. They were known as bit as an odd family after all.

Deleted user

Multiple characters are allowed as well, since there can be siblings or multiple family members.

@blue_topaz

Name: Rosa Elizabeth Mounier
Age: 18
Gender: female
Sexuality: straight
Family: The Shifters
Appearance: Long, black hair in subtle waves falling up to her shoulder blades, in a middle part. Widow’s peak, hair always kept down so that it spills over her shoulders and obscured her eyes from view. Sunken, grey-toned eyes with hints of both warmer and cooler shades underlined by bags and dark circles, a wistful light ever-present in them, occasionally replaced by insanity, constantly shadowed by fear. Prominent cheekbones, ivory skin marred by criss-crossing scars, veined hands with slim, trembling fingers. A slightly curvy body shape, though with the appearance of being underfed, 5’7”, broad but slim shoulders, a particular, raised scar running over the bridge of her nose and under part of her left eye, chapped, occasionally bloodied lips from being bitten. An old scar on the outside of her wrist of a badly etched rose that she carved into her skin. When she laughs— which is very, very rarely, her whole face lights up and becomes ten times more beautiful.
Personality: Very, very withdrawn, has built wall after wall around herself, sturdy fortifications around her heart and mind that can come crashing down during worse hallucinations, only to be quickly assembled once more. Watchful, observant, notices everything both outside and in the manor— she spends hours looking outside her window at the people below, giving them names and guessing at their lives. Her memory is tricky, extremely sharp at moments and blank of everything at others, can quickly forget and remember things, often has altered memories because of the blanks she had to fill on her own. Doesn’t open up to anyone, doesn’t trust anything, has such incredibly deep thoughts, wishes every night even though she knows it’s futile, is almost poetic at times. A very lonely soul, quick of mind, feet, and judgement, usually obedient, hates everything about herself.
Usual Clothing: Greys and blacks only, the occasional faded, unsaturated red, dresses with long, tight sleeves and high necklines despite the weather, showing as little skin as possible. A tarnished silver cross worn around her neck.
Backstory: Her mother died giving birth from her, and her father was always a hard man. She was never completely sane, but when she was around seven the first hallucinations began, driving her to try and jump off the bridge, almost stab the cook, etcetera. Her father was rich, and paid for doctor after doctor to look at her and figure out what was wrong, but they found nothing but insanity. He locked her away in her room, barely allowed to exit in case she hurt anyone or herself, until she turned eighteen. Now, she is allowed short walks outside, always supervised, and to roam the house, but only after she tried to kill herself (for the fifth time) when she mistook a hallucination for someone real and over time, actually fell in love with the figment of her cruel imagination. She found out he wasn’t real, tried to throw herself from the window, and her father concluded that isolation was only damaging her (of course, ignoring the fact that it was probably his constant physical and mental abuse he forced upon her).
Other: Has had various hallucinated friends throughout the years, all have faded away, she’s learned not to trust them by now. Both a love and a fear of the dark, a fear of being touched, a fear of sleep due to constant nightmares and hallucinations that come after.
(Is she okay?)

(Sorry that this is so long.)

Name: Sequoia LaTour
Age: 25 years.
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual (Though, has never been in a relationship with a woman before)
Family: The Necromancers // LaTour Family
Appearance: Tanned, dark skin that leans towards a warm, caramel tone, faint vitiligo on her hands up to her wrists. Naturally, messy, curly dark hair that is currently pulled back into full cornrows that frame her face nicely, usually pulled back into some sort of up or half-up style. Almond shaped eyes that are a sepia tone, standing out against her skin, thick lashes and fuller brows, darker circles under his eyes. Full lips with a bigger bottom one, usually chapped or cut from how much she bites down on them. Around 5'6 with a more petite frame, a bit curvy around the hips, though remains rather lean and a bit lanky, chub around her thighs that she's very self conscious about. Softer features and a perkier nose. Scars along her jawline and a few nicks on the bridge of her nose.
Personality: Sequoia is quite extroverted, someone who knows how to take charge, quite the opposite of her cousin, Daus. She's mellower and peaceful, though isn't afraid to put someone back in their place, knows how to make the right choices. Feisty, snappish, and a bit moody at times. Has a hard time controlling her emotions, can be a little blunt. Protective of the ones she cares about, leading her to be a bit impulsive in her choices if one of them is in danger. Quite poetic and for her personality, uses dance to put her emotions into something. Easily gains vendettas and holds grudges.
Usual Clothing: Wears dresses that are mellow colors, ranging from darker burnt siennas to greens and reds, always has long sleeves despite the weather. Wears some sort of gloves to cover up the vitiligo on her arms and hands. Dresses hem ends around her mid calf, has some sort of lace. Crescent moon necklace that she always wears.
Backstory: Sequoia was born to another part of the LaTour Family, surrounded by her aunts since her parent's both died in a quarrel between the older Reaper family. She has always has some sort of vendetta for that, though has never put anything into action. Instead she focused her time into practicing necromancy and gaining more skills. Though, after a while, she moved in with her younger cousin Daus, growing close to them. When the younger boy died from a ritual he attempted to perform, her immediate response was to use what she was taught and resurrect him. When she did it– and it worked– she was punished by most of her family, putting her on a probation; that she couldn't use her powers for more than 2 years.
Other: Very religious, has tarot cards that she constantly uses, will occasionally wear Daus' clothes since she finds them more comfortable.

Name: Daus LaTour (Pronounced Day-us)
Age: 22 years.
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Pansexual
Family: The Necromancers // LaTour Family
Appearance: His skin is a bit lighter, more of a medium toffee tone compared to his cousin, higher placed cheekbones, scars crossing over his back and arms, a nick out of his left ear. Light vitiligo on his back, reaching over his shoulders and neck, constantly attempts to cover his family marking up. A shorter, perky nose that is a bit wider, a small, crescent moon ring on the bottom that he's usually wearing. Wider, almond shaped eyes, that are a tawny, hazel tone, left eye is a watery, grey color since he is blind in that eye. Usually has some sort of far away look, never quite anchored. Messy, wavy hair, a dark brown color, in some sort of partly outgrown undercut style. Around 5'11, with a lean build, and smaller, faintly hunched shoulders from his lack of posture. (similar features to this https://i.pinimg.com/originals/15/24/46/1524465d2c5f247cbd9b499dc7e75cdb.jpg)
Personality: Emotionally scarred, and can be very quiet and withdrawn when met. Always seems far away, withdrawn as if he isn't anchored into the world. Can hide his turbulent emotions and put them away, usually covering up with his kind and charismatic behavior. Quite artistic and soulful, protective of the ones he cares about, though is very wary of consequences. Poetic. Lets most talk instead of him, a watcher. Doesn't trust easily, puts others in front of himself, doesn't take care of his own needs and refuses help. Can lose his temper quickly at times, though remains quite mellow and peaceful.
Usual Clothing: Wears understated clothes, usually tones ranging from white to light cremes and brown hues. Some sort of slacks, button up shirt and a vest, giving him a more put together look that his family praises. Either has dark leather boots or simple dress shoes.
Backstory: Daus was born to his single mother, not having any other siblings. His father had left New Orleans quite some time before he was born, scared of the powers that the LaTour family possessed. This left Daus' mother alone, only supported by cousins and aunts that lived in the city as well. Though, this new son had always worried his family, trying to delve too far into necromancy before he was ready, attempting to raise armies, speak to ancestors, etc. Soon enough, Daus had tried a spell from his mother's old notebook at 15, that had been much too strong for him, and he passed away. Upon hearing this news, his older cousin, Sequoia, managed to raise him from the dead, defying most of the family's laws and rules, blinded by helping a member. Daus had been resurrected, though it always comes with a price. Due to this resurrection, Daus had never acted the same, more withdrawn than the excitable and mischievous personality he was before. Now, he usually resides in the family manor and the small tarot shops throughout New Orleans, occasionally leaving to go out with Sequoia.
Other: Has a small lizard named Ba'al that he had gotten as a birthday present, occasionally smokes to get his mind off of things, an insomniac, very knowledgable on necromancy no matter how much it scares him to use the family gift.

Take your time with getting the forms up. We should probably be starting later this week once everyone posts their characters.
