Ryan's eyes lit up. "Really? When was the last time you saw him?"
Ryan's eyes lit up. "Really? When was the last time you saw him?"
Joanna looked up at the ceiling, recalling memories. "About 3, 4 years ago. He was a friend. Well, a friend of a friend."
He nodded. "That's good. From what the girl up on the deck said, my brother sounded like a criminal."
"Well, we were part of a small gang of thieves, but nothing serious. Who knows, he could have gotten into further trouble."
Ryan tried to shrug off the fact that his brother wasn't coming off well. He was probably just stealing to help us. Our family is pretty poor after all…
Nobody looked a little nervous. "I could tell you about the one time we freed some horses."
"Freeing horses…that sounds innocent and nice."
Joanna smiled. "Well, if you don't mind a bit of my backstory, I used to live in Divo. I was a part of a small gang taking care of themselves. There was Old Man Pablo, the head honcho, me, Tressa, Cass (her brother.) and your bro, Cade.
One time, Tressa, Cade, Cass, and I were walking through the market sector, filching where needed, when Tressa stops us and says, 'I hear a horse.' Cass was ready to dismiss it when Cade says 'No wait, I think I see one.' We sneak around and low and behold, we find the local butcher has been using horses and passing it off as pork or something. Dogs too. So we are horrified, and Cade says 'We got to do something.' So he goes and frees the dogs and that distracts the butcher, and we all hop on a horses, open the doors, and ride to freedom. That butcher was in so much trouble.
And thus, we were the unsung heroes of Divo."
Ryan laughed a little. "That's quite some story. When was this?"
Joanna laughed too. "Well, let's see, I was 17 or something, so that was 4 years or so."
(Waitrs for NERD)
(Same. Jo Jo has caramel for Ace ;(
"Four years…." Ryan leaned back and rubbed his head. "This is confusing. My brother lived in Anjou until he was fifteen, and that was six years ago. Four years ago he was in Divo with you…and he also got accused of murdering someone?"
Joanna shrugged. "I'm just stating what I remember. I got kidnapped shortly after that escapade. And when I got back there, Cade wasn't anywhere to be seen. He didn't seem like the type to murder someone."
"Who knows, he might have a look alike."
"Maybe…" Ryan didn't believe it though.
"Nobody, who told you he was a murderer?"
He shrugged. "Don't know her name, but she had black hair and grey eyes."
"That sounds like Morrigan. Would exactly did she tell you? If you don't mind my asking?"
“Cicada didn’t come to me about any injuries. Now, come on before you pass out,” Lucian said, turning on his heel to leave the room.
(Boy. She's been laying on a cot waiting very patiently for Lucian to get done with Leah. And this is how you treat her?)
(oH, I didn’t see that message?)
(""Am I ever going to get help?" Cicada asked Lucian." Said this earlier. And I'll say it again.)
"Kind of bleeding here Lucian," Cicada realized that Daso should take priority, but come on.
Daso instantly yanked his leg back. "You said Cicada was fine!" He said.
“Cade Lockwood was imprisoned for attempted murder of my father.” Ryan quoted, remembering exactly what she had said.
Joanna nodded. "Hmm. I don't know Morrigan very well. I mean, I know her, being on the same ship, but we're not super close." Joanna put her chin in her hand. " 'Attempted murder', huh. That just not the Cade I knew."
He sighed. "Not the Cade I knew either…"
Joanna stood up. "Want to help me make supper? Might take your mind off it."
Ryan shrugged. "I don't have anything better to do."
