Leah walked across the deck calling out orders to the crew as they docked into Sole. The bells from the churches in the center of the sector sounded noon.
Leah walked across the deck calling out orders to the crew as they docked into Sole. The bells from the churches in the center of the sector sounded noon.
Ryan jumped at the bells sounding, not used to the noise. He'd spent the last few years in Cielo, where he hadn't stayed outside as much and wasn't used to all the hustle and bustle of crowds and sound. The ship finally docked, and he tighten his grip on the knife in his belt.
The sound of the bells sent dread in his heart. Daso stumbled onto the dock, taking a deep breath of the chilly, stale air. It was just as he remembered.
(HELLO? JOANNA?)
(YO)
Cicada followed Daso off, she noticed the man on the dock, "Captain you might want to get down here!"
"We docked Captain!" One of the young crew members called out, climbing down the mast.
"Good," Leah replied, walking towards the side of the ship, her ginger hair blowing in the wind. The Andromeda shifted with the tides of the sea, but stayed rooted next to the port. She walked down the plank and onto the cobblestone streets of Sole.
Joanna stood there, anxious as Ace pondered her question.
The sights, the smells, the sounds…he could hardly breathe. He thought back to Dara's panic attacks and wondered if this is how she felt. "I have to go find someone," he whispered to whoever could hear him.
"I could describe them as I last knew them if it would help." She said.
Ryan stared at the girl who had stepped off the ship, his gaze more intense than ever.
"Who?" Cicada whispered back to Daso.
"Right!" Ace lit up from behind the glass, "I was boarding a boat to Trieste because I wanted to leave, when I heard the captain call out that Tressa, Cassius, and Pablo had passed the Reaper inspection and had safely boarded. I didn;t see them though. I didn't pass the inspection because I was sick."
Daso waved a hand. "Doesn't matter. I'll b-be–be back later." Oh, God. Was his stutter coming back? His father would be so ashamed.
"Nope," Cicada grabbed his arm, "I'm staying with you. Us ex-thieves have to stay together tight?"
Leah focused her unnerving jade eyes on the man standing on the docks, her hat shadowing part of her face.
Joanna breathed a sigh of relief. "Good. They're the closest thing to family I have. Thank you."
"I don't know who you are, but I was wondering if you've seen my brother." Ryan held out the picture, not moving any closer to the pirate girl.
"Cicada, I just need some space. Maybe the captain told you to babysit me or something but I don't need you, get it?" He knew his voice sounded cruel, but his chest was tightening up. He yanked his arm from her. "Sorry, but I really need to do this on my own."
(Can Joanna go with Leah and co.?)
( Yeah )
"I get it," Cicada responded, "Go, but get back here in one peace please."
She walked towards the captain.
(Sure, Just let her get lunch served.)
"I'll be right back." She said. As she walked back to the kitchen, she hollered, "LUNCH EVERYONE."
Daso nodded gratefully. He slipped away, hurrying down the streets towards the little library on the corner of 5th and 7th. It was noon, after all. Where else would she be?
Leah cursed her eyesight as she looked at the blurry photo. She decided to step closer and saw an image of a younger boy that clearly resembled the man holding it. "I don't think I have. . . but I'll keep an eye out for him, yeah?"
