I spin around in the heel of my ankle boot. “This is perfect..”, I breathe. “Thanks, Addi. Can I call you that, by the way?”

"After the third floor, yes. You can get there by the ladder attached to the end of the hall on the third floor."
"This really is a beautiful place, Addison. Thank you." I say meaningfully.
Addison laughed. "I haven't been called Addi in a long time. I would love to hear it more often though, so, go ahead."
Addi nodded at Oakley. "No problem. I guess this would be the second time I saved you though?" She joked teasingly.
And then I smile at them both and race up the staircase laughing. I hurry up three flights of stairs and then pull on the ladder attached to the ceiling, finding a room bathed in white light, bare-bones empty. This is perfect. A large wall-width window is at one end of the triangle shaped room, and I sigh with happiness.
(i always wanted a room in an attic for some reason idk why)
I grin. “Thank you. My eyes soften with something, something that should not be happening. I cannot be weak, especially not now. “I’m good with any room, as long as it has a window and a nice view.”
Addi nodded at Oakley. "No problem. I guess this would be the second time I saved you though?" She joked teasingly.
"Ah, come on Addison. I always knew you'd be the one doing all the saving here." I laugh jokingly
"So basically any room in this house except the basement." Addison answered Adelaide. Then she called after Oakley, "Yeah, you two might be the terrifying ones, but I'm the secret weapon who knows more than she says." She said with a hint of teasing.
As soon as I'm up in my room, I shout a quick 'this attic is officially Montague only!' at the girls down the hall and then close the staircase. I set all my clothing bags down and start putting things in the empty closet. I have two pairs of shoes now- my booted high heels and a pair of scarlet high top converse. After that's done, I go through all my clothes. I bought two pairs of shorts and three pairs of jeans, and one dress with a black halter top and a rose design on the hip. I two sweaters, one grey hoodie and one knit emerald sweater. And then I've got one halter tank top with navy stripes, and four tee shirts of all solid neutral colors. Enough to get me by for a long time.

"I am terrifying!" I shout back down at her. "I'll slit your throat and make it look like a bloody accident, ya hear me Grace! Be afraid of the dreaded scarlet Montague!"
With that, Addi fell to the ground in a fit of giggles.
I heard Addi laughing distantly and shook my head, smiling. I got to work shaking out the white sheets on the rusty bedframe in front of the window and watched the night shine over the land around us. I had a perfect vantage point. Half the reason I'd chosen this room was out of a pure girlish desire for an attic room, but the other half was strategy. A good mix of badass Mafia and a teenage girl, I supposed. There was no furniture, so I set my purse on the ground next to my bed and fell on the mattress, sighing happily.
Florence snagged the girl's number as she left. She grabbed a public phone, and: "Hey."
Addi went up to a random room and opened the door. "This will be my room, you can stay near me or as far away as you want." Addi told Adelaide.
My phone buzzed and I sighed, picking it up after rolling of my bed. An unknown ID came up, and I decided not to pick it up. If I picked up, they might track me.
I wandered through the halls in the top floor, looking for a nice room. The sunlight slants pleasantly through the windows and open doors, and the floral wallpaper adds a sweet, homey touch. Noticing how a part of the house sticks out more than the rest, I go to explore it, and find a peaceful, simply decorated hall with three rooms. I peek my head into one room, and instantly know that this is the one.
The room has Amber-tinted wood paneled floors and walls that dome slightly at the ceiling, covered in pretty cream, gray, and brown wallpaper. A huge window dominates one wall, with curtains sweeping the floor, and a bookshelf sits next to a desk and a bed. I sigh, content. This is perfect.
Addi set her backpack down on the desk, then opened the closet doors, which had clothes for her. She grabbed some gray yoga pants and a white hoodie, they went into the bathroom to take shower.
Florence persisted, trying to reach them.
I unpack my bags, changing into a sweet, casual true blue blouse, straightening my curled and dyed red hair and putting on beaded sandals.
I get up to go raid the kitchen, putting the address on the map on my phone so I know I can find it later. I lower the staircase and walk down the steps, then raise it back up once I'm off and walk down the top floor hallway towards the stairs. Once I find the bottom floor, I end up in the living room and take a left into a kitchen with all sorts of modern appliances, stocked with food. I wonder how long Addison's been planning this for, and shake my head. I don't get to ask questions, not with these girls, no matter how much I liked them. I find the fridge and open it up, taking out a menagerie of berries and a jug of almond milk, then plug in the blender on the counter and make three smoothies. Afterward, I prepare a healthy dinner of lemon fish and salad with vinegar dressing and call out for the girls.
"Annoying Capulet Girl! Runaway Prisoner Lady! I made you healthy people food!"
I hear Oakley calling and can’t help but smile. No, no. You are not worthy of friends, you do not deserve them, stop smiling. I run down the stairs, hair done up in a side-braid. “Did someone say food?!”
"Darn machine!" Florence redialed, and persisted.
"That's right ladies! I said food! Get your butts down here before I eat it all!"
Addi practically flew down the stairs, saying "Did someone say food?" at the same time Adelaide said it.
