Jax winced, his stomach was definitely bruised. "Turquoise is my favorite color, and Swan that is a pretty name."
Jax winced, his stomach was definitely bruised. "Turquoise is my favorite color, and Swan that is a pretty name."
Swan waved, coming up against a roadblock set by her inability to talk. I can hear you, but I’m mute., she wrote in the pad to clarify, hands trembling a bit. She shivered slightly in her leotard, dance shorts, tights, and sweater. Hi Kax, thank you., she added.
*Jax
Jax smiled after reading her note. "Where you born mute?"
Swan nodded. “Do you Speak ASL?”, she signed hopefully, the social interactions bringing another bout of trembling to her hands.
Hanna felt terrible. And not just because there was a very large bruise on her arm. All she got from Swan's signing was speak.
"Yes I do," he sighed back. "Do you know how we all got here?"
Swan noticed Hanna’s look and quickly wrote the same on her notepad.
Swan signed the negative. “Last thing I remember is being in dance class.”, she signed back, writing the same in the paper so as not to make Hanna feel left out
Hanna nodded. "The last I remember I was walking home with…" She trailed off. She had just met these people, they didn't need to know that.
Jax sighed, his hoodie was still wet from when he woke up about thirty minutes ago. "I honestly think I was napping when I got kidnaped and brought here."
"I think I was on my laptop binge-watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," Kenzie said.
Swan shrugged unconfortably. Um… So, soulmates., she wrote awkwardly. Im not sure I believe everything in that paper.
Hanna pulled the note out of her pocket. "There has to be more information about this. When does our time to find a soulmate run out? Is there food here? Water?"
Almost as if in answer to their questions, a table appeared in the middle of the room. There was enough room for them all to sit, with a card at each place telling them where to sit. A white tablecloth draped over the table, and the plates looked as if they were made of china. Clear wine glasses were placed by each plate, next to tall water glasses.
"I feel so under dressed…" Hanna muttered, walking over to the table in her jeans and sweater. She began looking at the cards, trying to find her name.
Kenzie stood, blinking in shock, after the table appeared. Glancing around, she noticed that everyone else just found their name and sat down, without questioning it.
"Is nobody curious about the sudden appearance of a table in the middle of the room?" she questioned.
"Oh, I am curious. I'm also hungry though." Hanna sat down at her place.
"After waking up in a ginormous box, not really impressed." Jax shrugged and sat down. "I hope the food's good."
Kenzie shook her head, then followed suit. At her place, a card was set on the plate. The card read, Kenzie Rhodes, you have been chosen to be a part of this because of your kindness and gentleness towards those in need. If you fail to find your soulmate, you will be brought to another room where the process will be repeated. Your memory will be wiped of this room and the events that have taken/will take place.
Hanna leaned over and read Kenzie's card, gasping. She looked at hers, realizing that it said almost the same exact thing. She held it up. "Does everyone else have a card like this?" Wait…her memory will be wiped and she'd have to do this again if she didn't find a soulmate? Hanna would be here forever.
Swan picked up her card, terrified of what it might say. Doesnt that mean that we could’ve already gone through this and just not remember?, she wrote, flipping over her card.
Hanna hadn't even thought about that. She stared off into space for a few seconds, thinking. "Oh…I guess we could have…" Hanna thought back. "So, we're stuck in some sort of time loop until we find our soulmate." Wait.. She thought. What if I fall in love here, and it's not my soulmate…
Reading Swan's note, she nodded. "Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too. How many times have we already gone through this, and how many times are we going to have to do it again?"
And how long will we have?, Swan wrote, subconsciously doing the ankle excersises Ms. Danielle had recommended to her under the table.
