Element, now flying away and towards the nearest library, let her mask come back on. While they chatted, she landed and walked in. Everyone instantly looked at her, and she smiled and waved. "Even superhero's read!" she said, and she began to walk up to the history section. Suddenly a thought came to her. What did Dylan mean when he said that I might not like what I find?
(Thought this rp looked interesting, so I hope it’s fine if I join in here.)
Name: Vaughn Finley (no hero name)
Age: 19
Appearance: About 6’2, tan skin, onyx textured black hair, slate eyes, usually wears a white button down, black trench coat, and black dress pants.
Abilities: Super strength.
Other: Father murdered his mother and sister when Vaughn was 13, so he has made it his goal to stop murderers and child abusers (mostly jus basic criminals). He suffers from Agoraphobia(fear that everyone is against you), which makes it hard to work with others. He has been identified as dangerous by law enforcement, but he is mostly just misunderstood.
(I might have to vanish for the night, not sure…)
Vaughn stumbles out of an alleyway, sweat on his forehead and panting. He looks around, adjusting the concealed weapon in the waist band of his dress pants. Brushing himself off, he steps around the building and into the doors of a library, sighing at the air conditioning that hits him. He flips his collar up to partly conceal his features and heads towards the back.
Walking around, she smiled when she realized she was the only one in the room. Then, she pulled one book in particular halfway off the bookshelf, and it opened, leading into a secret room. Element walked in. ( maybe Vaughn can find her in there? )
(Yeah, sure.)
He spotted a girl and watched as the doorway slipped open. His eyes narrowed as he stepped closer, waiting for her to get a good distance ahead before slipping in behind her, moving silently and swiftly. His eyes flick around, trying to adjust to the darkness.
Element walked towards an old bookcase, and pulled out something called,
"Quod universum Lapidibus." Latin for, "The Universe Stones." She flipped through the pages.
Eight powerful stones, each possessing a different power. The Sun Stone, the powers of the Sun. The Planetoid Stone, possessing powers of planets and asteroids. The Galaxy Stone, possessing power of the galaxy and Milky Way. The Nova Stone, with powers over the stars. The Eon Stone, powers over time. The Forgotten Stone, with powers over the fallen planets and stars. The Black Stone, with the powers over the darkness of space. And Lastly, The Ice Stone, which controls the deadly cold of space.
"Woah." Element breathed.
Vaughn stays hidden in the shadows, his fists clenched as he watches the girl. Who is she, and what is this place?, he thought. He clenched his jaw and continued to wait and watch, squinting his eyes at the book in her hands.
(Imma back track a tad bit to account for my absence….)
"Yeah," Dylan said, grasping on to the excuse she had conviently presented, "it's pretty sweet. "
He got in, and they rode down to the library to find Element in the secret room. She had her nose in a book already and didn't seem to notice when they walked in. Dylan started fishing through books and came to rest on a newer version of the book detailing the legend of the Flame. He flipped to the back, where he found that indeed, Xelnarin had two sons, one of which was abandoned young.
"Woah, " Element breathed in awe.
Dylan looked up, "What is it?"
"Oh hey." she said, looking up. "I didn't see you. But, uh, anyways, it's the Universe stones." she said excitedly, and read aloud all eight of them.
Vaughn listens, an expression of confusion forming on his face. ‘This is insane’, he thought. He knew he shouldn’t have come in, and needed to get out fast. He slid to wear the door was and pushed hard, opening it slightly and slipping out. He jogged away from the room, his mind flooding with questions.
Dylan heard a slight creak and turned to find the door was open slightly. He motioned for the rest of the group to be quiet, the cloaked and went out, careful not to disturb the door.
Element's head snapped up when the door opened and someone ran out. Panic overtook her. "NO!" she yelled, dropping the book. She flew out of the room, so fast she was almost unseeable. She saw someone jogging with a guilty face, and she recognized his clothes a little. It's gotta be this guy. she thought. When he turned around and saw her and started to run faster, she grabbed him and pulled him into the air with her. She brought him out of the library and into the woods behind it quickly, and dropped him. She landed lightly, and let her hands ignite with fire. "What were you doing in there?" she hissed.
Vaughn stepped back, his fists clenched. “I should ask the same question. Not everyday you see a hidden room.” His eyes narrowed sharply, and his tone was filled with obvious warning and hostility.
Dylan ran back to the room, dragging Avery out, "We need to go after Element. Can that care of yours fly?"
"Can Oscar fly?" Avery scoffed, rolling her eyes. "I'm a superhero, of course he can fly! Oscar, flight mode, please."
The Australian voice floated out from the speakers, "Of course, Avery," and the car began to shake and rattle. After a few seconds, it was floating.
Avery turned to the others. "And… It's got invisibility mode! Oscar, go dark," she said, and the car disappeared.
(Also, I totally ship Dylan and Avery. Poor dude, Avery doesn't realize he was talking about her!)
(Yeah. Dylan's already kinda head over heels…)
"Okay," Dylan said, smiling and looking out the window, "Now you're just showing off." He pointed in the direction Element went, "They went that-a-way. Fly low, I can probably restrain our unwelcome guest from here."
Element growled at Vaughn. "I am Element, sworn protector of all who live on this nasty excuse of a planet. And you are a nosy rodent who sneaks around to gather information. At least, that is my prospective now. You could easily change it by showing me you are not hostile, and telling me your name."
Eyes wide in mock astoundment, Avery gasped, "Me? Show off? I'd never." She smirked, then climbed into the car and patted the passenger seat. "Come on, I'll give you another lift."
Vaughn scoffed sharply. “Hard to do so in a situation like this, considering I’m being called a ‘nasty rodent’. And you opened that door right in the middle of the library, hard not to be curious about that. I won’t be as hostile, but I’m sure as hell not telling you my name, that’s valuable information.” His name and face was plastered all over the news, saying that he physically assaulted a man in his home three nights ago. What was left out was the fact that the man had been beating his three year old son to death at the time, and Vaughn stopped him from doing so. He ended up putting the man in critical condition in the hospital, but in Vaughn’s mind, the man deserved every bit of it. He was just pleased that the boy was safe with other family members and away from the sickening man.
Dylan glanced at the seat, and then the "top" of the invisble car. He shook his head, "No. I have a better idea. He climbed up on the top, and used a couple shadow-form hooks to keep himself stable.
"Get going!" He yelled down to Avery.
Avery laughed as Dylan climbed on top of the car. What made him think of that? she wondered as she put the car into "drive." She flew the car quickly, racing in the direction Element had gone.
Element crossed her arms. "I don't trust people who just "say" they aren't hostile. You have to prove it to me."
Dylan felt the wind through his hair for the first time in weeks. It was one of those feelings he couldn't help but scream aloud from.
He loved flying.
Forming the hook into a chain in his left hand, he jumped from the car and let himself be carried. He spotted fire down below, and saw Element's fists engulfed in flame. Angling his body so he could be seen in the rear view, he held his right fist up and then dropped it. Fast descent.
