Vaughn laughed briefly at that. “You’ve got to be joking.” He grew annoyed that this conversation on his identity was continuing. He couldn’t trust these strangers with any information about himself. There was a tightening in his lungs, but he ignored the feeling, reminding himself mentally that he couldn’t let his condition act up in front of others.
Dylan sighed, "His name's Vaughn. And you better not think about going anywhere," he said to Vaughn, "It's time we had that chat."
Rolling her eyes, Avery scoffed. "No, I'm not joking. So you can either tell me your name, and I can make up my mind about you myself, or Oscar can run facial recognition and tell me all about you."
Vaughn cursed softly to himself, the feeling in his lungs tightening more, and he breathed in slowly and heavily. “Like I said, make it quick then.”
Vaughn, Avery turned the name around in her head. Where have I heard that before? She glanced at the two guys before her and backed away to a far corner where she wouldn't be able to be heard.
"Oscar," she whispered. "Search the name 'Vaughn' and tell me the results later."
Dylan smiled, hiding slight, twitching anger, "Sorry, man, I don't do quiet, nor do I do subtle. You come with us, and don't cause problems. Alright?"
Vaughn narrowed his eyes. “Alright. But I plan to be done by-,” he paused, glancing at the watch on his wrist, “three to four hours.”
Dylan turned to Avery, who had backed up, "Does that sound like enough time for you?"
Avery's head snapped up as she heard Dylan ask a question. "Ah, yeah. Yeah, that sounds good," she stuttered. "Let's go back to my place, though."
Dylan, now satisfied that Vaughn would cooperate, Held out his hand as they walked down to the car, "Dylan, by the way. Since we all seem to be introducing ourselves."
Dylan searched the Vaughn's eyes, but couldn't really find much. He just seemed rather suspicious of everyone in sight.
Vaughn eyed his hand uneasily, then shook it, but quickly let go a moment later. He stuffed his hands back into the pocket of his suit jacket, keeping his posture stiff and straight.
Dylan sighed. Vaughn was even more high strung than he had first appeared, if he wouldn't even give a proper handshake. Dylan turned back to the car, jogging ahead of Avery and opening the driver side door before Oscar got the chance, "After you," He said, smiling as she neared.
( I'm sorry I missed all that and I don't have time to read it. )
Element looked at Dylan. "Hey." she said. "Your talking with the turd?" she cocked her head towards the man from earlier.
Dylan cocked his head as he held open the door, surprised by Element's tone, "Talked. He's coming with us, so play nice. He goes by Vaughn."
Dylan wondered exactly what might've happened for Element to be so pissed. She didn't seem like the type to hold a long grudge, no matter what it might be.
Element didn't say anything, she just faced out the window. Something about the man getting in the car made her want to sprint far away.
(Do you think @urban and @SorceressWriter are online atm?)
( I have no earthly clue! )
(I'm here! Kinda. I'll have free time to join in eventually… I hope.)
(Sorry, around now.)
Vaughn sat in silence, eyes lowered to his cell phone where he reads a long message.
(I'm back! Sorry, I had a meeting-kinda-thing to go to.)
Avery walked to the car with Dylan and Vaughn, and Dylan raced ahead to open her door before Oscar could.
"After you," Dylan said, smiling as she drew closer.
Avery smiled back and slid into her seat. "Thanks!" she said, then quickly stood back up. "Wait a sec. Who's going to sit shotgun?"
Vaughn kept quiet, preferring to sit in the back. It was safer in the back anyways. He typed a message back, a faint smile showing and he sent it, then shut his phone off. His face went emotionless once again.
"I volunteer." Element grumbled, and she climbed into the front seat.
Avery's eyes flicked over Vaughn just as he smiled. Curious, she jokingly asked, "You texting your girlfriend or something?"
Element's head snapped up at Avery's words. Bad move. she thought.
Noticing Element's concerned look, Avery glanced at her and winked. Don't worry, she thought. I know what I'm doing.
