(Yeah… peaceful.pie?)
(Wait, what should I do for Cassius? He doesn't really have powers that can be demonstrated)
Whale…. What does his kingdom do?//
(They're really religious, I guess? The masks all represent forest creatures/spirits that they believe protect them and they have rituals and stuff to honor the gods and spirits. A lot of his kingdom is made up of mages and magic users, and there were rumors that exiled spirits have lived among them. I guess Cas could read part of the ritual, or something? Or have one of the priests do something to him?)
Have him summon a ghost or something/\
(I'll start)
"Now it is the time to demonstrate your powers. Let the gods hear you, let them know your faith by the way you shake the ground. Show that you are chosen by the gods," The priestess said, giving the scripted speech. She nodded as Mae stepped forward, facing the other rulers as she stood before the fire.
Anxiety curled tightly around Mae's gut, but she quieted it. A memory flashed into her mind, one of her fathers was whispering in her ear "You are not scared. You are not weak. Show them your power, but not your emotion," He commanded. Mae let her powers rip loose, sending tendrils of black mist into the air. It was not really mist though, as it was much more solid, more definite. Darkness. She let chains of magic wrap around the fire, squeezing it into a small tendril. Then, Mae released it, and brought a cloud of darkness down upon herself, letting it consume her. She made it wrap around her, like a faithful pet, consuming her very body. Mae's hair was straight up in the air, a purple glow around it, moving like a fire. All of a sudden, she stopped. The tendrils of black disappeared, and all was still. The high priestess bowed respectfully.
(hello?)
Cassius caught Mae's eye and smiled at her before stepping forward. He started to chant in a foreign language, one that not even the priests could understand. His eyes fluttered shut in concentration, and a light green glow surrounded him. When he finally finished the chant, he opened his eyes. Standing next to the fire was one of the forest spirits. It was tall, impossibly tall, with a body that looked to be made of twigs. It had no eyes, or if it did, they were the same as the abyss. Its beak, which was bone, had the same patterns etched into it that Cassius' mask did. It reached its long, needle-like fingers into the fire and picked up the flame, almost curiously. After a moment of silently watching the flame sit in its hand, it dropped it and looked over to Cassius. It nodded once before disappearing. The glow around Cassius faded and he stepped back into line without another word.
Iris waited for Cassian to finish before walking before the fire. Closing her eyes, she summoned her strength and trickled her power in. Tendrils of ice extended from her palms, wrapping around the fire, concealing it, almost extinguishing it. Right before the flame was lost, the ice exploded into small, dagger-like shards. As the shards flew in every direction, Iris reached for control of the ice, and in a split second, the ice compressed into a sphere. She pulled the sphere toward her hands, barely acknowledged the priest, and walked back into the line.

(hello?)
Virgil walked up towards the fire. As he walked, his aura sent out tendrils of darkness. He looked over to the fire and sent out a wave of fear, fear that could bring a full grown man to his knees. The fear that he collected turned the clearing into a war zone, everyone seeing their worst nightmare. His features turned into one of a monsters, his teeth elongating and his eyes turning to slits.
(sorry, I'm back online now…)
Astrid waited her turn then stepped forward, breaking free of the vines that had curled around her before. She closed her eyes and water began to swirl around the fire, steam rising as it touched the flames. A teal-ish glow formed around Astrid and her feet lifted off the ground as the water left the fire and began to swirl around her, encasing her and only the glow could be seen. Her green eyes glowed brighter and brighter until it suddenly stopped and she was set back on the ground gently as the water disappeared. She stepped back into line, a trail of small flowers and grass grew after each step and the vines wrapped themselves back around her once she returned to her spot, comforting her and calming her nerves.
Mae felt like screaming, screaming until her throat was sore and her voice had left her body. red tinged the edge of her vision. She knew that with her powers of darkness, Virgil's powers would not effect her as much as the others, but nightmarish visions ripped through her mind, sending her to her knees. What would her Fathers think? They were dead know, but their voices echoed in her mind. weak, thats what they would call her. stupid, childish, weak. tears rolled down Mae's face.
(sorry, that was meant for Virgils)
