“If you’re offering. I’ll warn you though, Mikey has a tendency to start fights twenty drinks in, and he’s around eighteen of ‘em now.” She warned, shaking her head.

"I'm 6'5"," Raymond said without an ounce of humor, setting the phone on speaker phone as he set it down in his lap and put his car on neutral. "I don't think many people are willing to fight me."

@croccin-champagne

“Nah, I know that. I mean he likes to start fights with the other patrons. Means I get to break ‘em up.” Khione rolled her eyes at the sounds of a growing argument from inside the bar, looking back over to the door. “And it looks like you’ll get to catch it, if you’re here in around ten minutes.”

Deleted user

"I doubt I will get there fast enough," he said as he pulled out of the stadium parking lot, flinching at the sight of cameras pointed his way. "Why do people like to take pictures of me so much?"

@croccin-champagne

Khione hummed thoughtfully, the enter sound obviously fake. “Good looking, maybe? Famous, definitely. Tall. That makes you a freak. People like that. Oh, and you can’t forget how strange people are.”

Deleted user

"People are really strange," he agreed as he got onto the highway. A small smile graced his lips as they talked. He was happy to have someone he was able to talk to so easily when everyone else was so difficult to read. "And I wouldn't call myself famous yet. I haven't even played three games in the pros yet."
What he failed to mention was that in the first two games, despite how panicked he got in the locker room, he scored at least 20 points and 5 assists, along with a block a game. (good numbers, btw)

@croccin-champagne

((I want you to know that I really appreciate the statistics facts bcs I do Not know basketball))

“People are the strangest. Thanatos is so much easier to understand. He wants food, he meows. He wants pets, he meows. There’s a bug? Meow.” She said, her voice adopting a slightly fond tone as she talked about her cat. “You’re famous enough.” She didn’t mention that she’d seen every one of his televised games, and knew he was great.

Talking to Raymond was something she’d missed. He didn’t bullshit as often as so many people did. And he was one of the few people on her list of made family, of people she would do almost anything for.

"Famous enough," he repeated his nose scrunching up slightly. It was what he did whenever someone said something he didn't agree with and he did it so often it was easy to imagine when he repeated her statement. "Okay, whatever. As much as I love basketball, I miss hanging out with you. My teammates are really nice, but…they aren't you."

@croccin-champagne

"Nobody's me. And your teammates are especially not five foot three, for sure." Her chilly expression softened slightly. God, it sure was a good thing she was alone out here. "Besides, we all know my sunny disposition and natural charm are irreplaceable. I miss hangin' with ya too. Streets are kinda boring without you."

Deleted user

"I was never out on the streets," he said, flicking his right blinker on so that he could enter the exit lane. "You never let me because you were afraid I'd get shanked by someone from a different school."

@croccin-champagne

"The safe streets." She corrected, huffing a breath like a sigh. "My streets always got somethin' goin' on. The safe streets are borin' as hell now. Hailey's Icecream is still up and runnin' though. She didn't shut down like she was gonna. So there's that."

Deleted user

"I never really believed she was going to close. That place was just too popular for her to shut it down." The phone slid slightly as he turned into the exit, his smile growing as he got closer to Khione's bar. "How are you doing when it comes to money?"

@croccin-champagne

"Managing. The bar keeps me afloat, and tips are good enough for extra things." Like saving up. "And I take odd jobs here and there. Rico keeps asking for cash though, goddamn gambler." Another insult laced with fond undertones. Rico was, after all, a brother in everything except blood to her.

The noise in the background got louder, and the fondness in Khione's tone disappeared instantly. "Motherfucker. That's my cue, I guess. Pick up when you get here."

"See you, then," Raymond said, pressing the red button on his phone and hanging up. An intense feeling of loneliness invaded his mood, filling up the space talking to Khione had left. He would have to wait long, though, because within five minutes he had made it to the bar. He left his phone in the car as he walked inside. The only person he would need it for was inside the building he was walking towards.

He poked his head in cautiously. Judging by the way Khione had ended the conversation so quickly, there was something going on inside.

@croccin-champagne

Fights at the bar never lasted long, thanks to the inebriated state of the people involved, and they were even shorter when Khione decided they were worth her stepping in.

So by the time Raymond was there, the fight was over, things returning to normal somewhat as the problem-causers where kicked out by Khione. As always, she looked cold an emotionless, but somehow seemed even more imposing when she was fed up. Dressed in shorts a bit too short for the weather, a tank top, and her signature Reapers jacket, she didn't look much different from the last time Raymond had seen her. Well, if one didn't count the blood leaking from her nose right now, and the split lip.

"I said out, Mike. That means get your damn booze somewhere else, before I shove that whole bottle up your ass. Raymond, o'er here. I don't bite, y'know. Usually."

Deleted user

Raymond walked fully into the bar as Mike hustled his way out of the bar, watching the guy leave for a moment before continuing his way over to Khione. He slipped his hands into the pocket of his jeans as he finally made it over, frowning down at the blood on her face. It was situations like these where his disability really showed. His mouth opened and closed constantly like he was getting ready to say something, but no noise came out.

@croccin-champagne

Khione arched a bleached eyebrow as she watched Mike leave, making sure he made it out the door before turning to Raymond. "Welcome back, hotshot. Don't mind the blood. Would you believe me if I said I fell?" It was kind of obvious she hadn't fallen, but oh well.

Deleted user

"Um…." Her asking him a question gave him a true opportunity to speak. "Judging by the bruises on his and your knuckles, I'd say no. And it….is nice to see you too."
Talking over the phone was much easier for him than talking face to face.

@croccin-champagne

"Caught myself on my knuckles, he hit a wall." She said, very obviously lying as she motioned for him to follow her back to the counter. Slipping behind it, she grabbed a towel from somewhere under the counter, pressing it to her nose to staunch the blood. "Told ya. Nineteen drinks exactly tonight. I think his girlfriend is threatening to break up with him. He declines like this everytime she pulls that shit."

Deleted user

"For you being in a gang your whole life, you are a really bad liar," he said simply, watching her clean herself witha concerned expression.
Two years had done little to age his face. While his body grew, it remained the same as it had when he was sixteen, with big hazel eyes and an innocent look at all times. The only thing that had changed was the facial hair that now dusted his jawline.

(So I had an idea for how the romance between these two would work. Just tell me if I'm fucking up her personality So…she has had a crush on him since high school but never actually said anything about it because she: A, didn't think she was worthy of him, and B, was afraid what would happen to him if a rival gang found out. But now she will be helping him every day, those feelings grow to a point where she can't really hold them back)

@croccin-champagne

((ghfhj khione is just. always smol and scary))

"Apparently you're the only one who thinks that." She said, rolling her eyes at him. "You look good. They're workin' ya hard enough t' get ya some muscle." Tossing her hair back from her face, she turned to the shelves of alcohol behind her, attempting to reach a bottle of scotch just a bit too high up. "You havin' fun up there?"

Deleted user

"I got hit in the face last game," he said, grabbing the bottle that was barely above his head and handing it to her, not realizing she had watched it. "People are taller than me in the NBA. There's one guy that's 7'7". I'm not really used to that."

@croccin-champagne

"Ugh. Am I gonna have to interact with more of you giants?" She made a face for just a split second, popping the top off the bottle and taking a long drink straight from it. "That hit looked pretty nasty. You ain't bruisin' too bad though, luckily."

(Was that an answer?)

Raymond rubbed the spot above his eye where he had been hit, wincing slightly. "Yeah, it was his elbow….wait, you actually watched it happen?"
