Lucille took another drink of her cold water, “I’m going to get the notes.”
Lucille took another drink of her cold water, “I’m going to get the notes.”
As everyone moved around, Phoenix turned to Addi.
"Sorry for dozing," she said with an embarrassed grin, "I was up training pretty late last night."
Addison sat down beside Phoenix. "Completely understandable."
Lucille left the room swiftly to get the notes needed for the presentation.
Jay walked through the door, smile on his face. "Guess who just got assigned to a decent mission?"
"All of us you dummy. It was in the meeting last night."
“Not you?” Lucille asked, reappearing in the room. She had already gotten her notes, “just kidding.”
"Mate, everyone's got the mission," Zen clarifies.
He flopped down on a couch next to Addison. "I actually wasn't at the meeting last night. I got called in from offworld. I think they're gonna make me a bodyguard or something."
Addison rolled her eyes. "I mean seriously. Are Luce and I the only ones who actually by attention to meetings?"
"Interesting Jay."
Jay pretended to be hurt. "Oh come on, I pay attention! Or I try to at least."
Addison laughed joyfully.
"Pfft! Bodyguard?" Phoenix snorted, lightly punching Jay's arm, "You can't even beat me in the training room!"
Zen chuckled. "You can't even throw straight," he joked.
Jay punched Phoenix back. "Hey, that was one time! You only won because my implant malfunctioned!"
"As a former bodyguard myself," Phoenix smirked, "I deny that assessment."
He spluttered. "Okay, watch this!" He got up and found a marble lying around, then took an empty glass of water and placed it as far away as possible from the couch. He then sat back down and threw the marble, landing it in the glass
"Not bad, not bad." Zen said. "But watch… this." he pulls out another penny and gets ready to flick it. He positions himself so that he's got the best chances of it landing in the swear jar and flicks it with his thumb across the room. The glass clinks as the coin falls in.
Jay smiled. "Pretty good for a regular old human."
Phoenix smirked and reached down to her boot, pulling out a small knife. Then she grabbed a penny from her pocket.
"Watch and learn, boys, watch and learn."
Holding the knife by the blade in one hand and the penny in the other, she eyes the jar, then flicks her wrists and sends the knife and penny flying.
The knife skims the top of the jar without rattling the jar and embeds itself in the wall right as the penny clinks into the jar.
"Aren't… aren't you human?" Zen asked.
Jay shrugged. "I started out human, but then I got into a giant accident, and you can kinda tell what that did." He kicked his metal leg out for emphasis and waved it around a little. "So now I guess I'm a cyborg."
"That's… awesome," Zen exclaimed. "I mean, not the accident part, but the cyborg part,"
Jay grinned again. "I know right? I mean the accident totally sucked don't get me wrong, but now I can break people's faces with my foot."
