(Haha, reference to "Raid Area 51"?)
Alyssa ran, making sure to take in big breaths. She'd been training for this very moment, a chance to rebel against the unfair rules, laws, and regulations for years. She didn't care that the school probably had called her parents already, she didn't care that her parents probably had called the police already, running was her life. It was her home away from home. Her escape plan. She smiled, a smile just to herself. Cleverly ducking and moving swiftly to avoid incoming obstacles, she thrived on the adrenaline coursing through her veins.
Carmen laughed as she ran, a bandanna tired over the lower half of her face. Pitch black, with a butterfly she embroidered over here her mouth was. Months of planning. Months of training. Wild brown curls flew around her face, brown eyes dancing in mirth and defiance. Her combat boots beat a steady rhythm against the hard ground. "Lovely day to fuck over the government, isn't it?" She said, looking at the person next to her. If they ask my name, I'm gonna give them a cool, badass, fake one!
She heard the sound of laughter next to her. She turned to see who was talking to her. Through her steady breathing, Alyssa managed, "Yeah, totally!" Running on her tiptoes now, trying to see above the massive group they'd gathered, she strained to see if they were close to the base.
"So, who are ya?" She asked, panting slightly. Should have ditched the leather jacket. I forgot it's the desert. But aesthetic.
"Alys-Alyssa," she got out, slightly more comfortable with talking while running. It did make it more difficult to pace her breathing, though. "You?"
"You can call me Mariposa." She said, smirking as she rolled her r. That sounds cool, right?
Alyssa just gave a nod of acknowledgement, that was easier to do than to talk. She couldn't afford to waste her breath, when she got there, she planned to show the government a thing or two about the "weak citizens" the cities held, or at least the offspring of her family were "weak citizens".
Sol moved to run beside two others who seemed to be chatting. "How we doing boys? Do you know if the Kyles have been taken out yet?"
"Can't tell, honey." Carmen said, jumping up a bit to try and see. "I'm too short."
Kyles? Alyssa wondered, but it was too much effort to try and speak. She worried she'd lose control of the steady rhythm she'd gotten into.
Scarlett overheard the conversation amongst a few of the runners, a welcome different sound from the panting of everyone. I think the Kyle's are still… Kyling, it would be pretty hard to tell them-" She got caught of the sound of sirens started making noises all around them. Blaring red light showed in the sunset, disturbing any little sense of calmness out of all of this. Megaphones started sounding, "Do not approach any further than the 1 mile line within the zone or we will have to start using force.
" The voice clearly rang. "It's too late now."
"Ah, for f^cks sake!" A boy with wild, bright red dyed hair stumbled while sprinting to catch up with the group. "I am NOT made for this kind of excercise!" Meeting the gaze of the group dashing forward, he grinned widely and gave a thumbs up. "The name's Vendetta! Or, well, that's my tag. My real name is Kevin but that's really not cool so-" he stopped speaking abruplty and gasped for air -"I go by my tag!" Vendetta beamed and pointed behind him. "I was with the gamers originally, but I really want to blow sh^t up, and you guys seemed to be just the people for the job!"
"Welcome to the team. I'm Solaris. It's my tag and real name," Sol chirped. "I'm doing just fine right now, do any of y'all need a break? I can carry anyone." She gestured to her entire muscled body before returning to sticking her arms out behind her.
Ven's eyes widened, gasping with glee. "Muscley lady! Oh my god, this is the best day of my life! Yo, can I watch you lift up heavy things later?" He flinched as a loud warning shot rang from the military's position.
Alyssa nearly fell over as she came to a sudden halt but caught herself. She growled and pushed her way to the front of the group. "I've trained five years for this kind of thing! I'll tell you, I live for and stand by only my family. Today is the day you will regret all you've done to us…" she knew it was a risky thing to do, but she was ready to take chances. If she went down fighting for her family, it was all worth it. She couldn't just stand around waiting to take action, it had to be done now.
Ven's eyes widened, gasping with glee. "Muscley lady! Oh my god, this is the best day of my life! Yo, can I watch you lift up heavy things later?" He flinched as a loud warning shot rang from the military's position.
Sol grinned. "Absolutely, my dude."
Carmen dug a switchblade out of her pocket. She couldn't get a better weapon. "You can't stop all of us!"
Vendetta nervously glanced down at his replica Master Sword he'd purchased for the battle. "I… I didn't think I'd ever had to use this…" With a grimace, he unsheathed the sword and held it up in the air. "But I'll fight for my new friends. And for freedom!"
Alyssa glanced at Vendetta. "Friends?" she scoffed. "Yeah right, I barely know you, and you don't know half of my life."
"To be fair, there is a chance we could die together. I'd say that make us friends." Carmen said with a half smile.
"Acquaintances," she corrected. "You all barely know me, let alone my family." The Hart family, she added in her mind.
"Sure, honey." Carmen said, running forward.
Vendetta ran with her, charging towards the compound. "F^ck yeah! Acquaintances, let charge!!!"
"I'm gonna get an alien best friend!" Sol shouted, running even faster towards the base.
