"Cool." Ellen finished searching the cabinets and took a closer look at the cooking ware. "This is a sorry excuse for an oven top."

"Addie's not a boring name," Marcus said reassuringly. "Besides, it kind of lost its shine when I stopped talking to my brother."
"I don't… have a nickname." Owen said. What is it with kids these days? Is this just some new fad? I really need to educate myself on how young people think. And how they stay sane with the constant changes in what's fashionable and what isn't.
Adeline frowned. "It's old-fashioned… I'm sorry about your brother," she said, her voice softening.
"Well what's your full name? We could come up with something for you." Ellen offered, running her finger along the rim of the stove top.
Marcus waved his hand at her. "It's fine, don't worry about it."
"If you say so…" Adeline trailed off. "I'm sure we could find you a nickname! Oh, what's your job?"
"Owen J. Gordon-Whittaker. Brigadier Owen J. Gordon-Whittaker." he said. The "Brigadier" was important, like how a king insisted on your majesty and for very similar reasons.
(Sorry guys, I know I just got back but I have to go to bed)
"You could be O.J.," Marcus suggested, a smile on his face.
"Okay, G.W." Ellen squinted at her finger. O.J. makes me think of orange juice. Ha. "I do not want to know how old this dust is."
(I've got to leave soon, so why don't we wrap up for the day?)
"Good heavens, no. I must insist upon upholding my dignity." Owen shuddered at the idea of being called "O.J." or "G.W.", however he probably wouldn't answer to those either way.
(I've got to leave soon, so why don't we wrap up for the day?)
(Yes, captain! ;P Lol.)
"What about Brig?" Addie suggested.
"No. Brigadier if you must, but not 'Brig'." Owen said. Why do I even need a nickname again? he thought.

(Okay!)
Marcus grinned playfully. “We could call you Gordie,” he suggested.
"Absolutely not. Why do I even need a nickname again?" he asked.
Ellen shrugged. "Ya don't need one. It's just fun I guess."
“So, of you don’t have a nickname, what are we supposed to call you?” Marcus asked. He sat down on the counter top, leaning forward and resting his head on one of his hands.
"Brigadier. Or Owen. Either of those would be acceptable." he said. (Gtg)
Addie shrugged. "If that's what you want to be called, then that's what I'll call you."
(Back!) "That sounds like a reasonable compromise." Owen replied.
