Luna sat watching the little girl sleep. The sun had just risen and they were due at the meadow any second, but she wanted to let the child sleep as long as she could. Luna had made Ramus go to sleep as soon as she was fed, and lightly dozed in a chair by the girl's bed. Suddenly she stirred. Luna watched the look of confusion, then fear cross the girls face when she didn't recognize where she was. Luna crouched down next to the girl before she could start screaming. "Hey, hey, it's alright, it's alright. You're safe now, no one's going to hurt you. It's okay. I'm Luna, do you have a name?" she asked, trying to speak in soft, soothing tones.
"Sorry." She said. "S-Sari." She whimpered, avoiding looking at Luna. "Please d-don't hurt me."
Luna smiled sadly at the girl. "I'm not going to hurt you. In fact, I promise that you are safe here because we will protect you. Now, we have to go meet with some people so we can decide the best way to help you. Do you think you can stand?"
Sora had kept a portion of food warm in the case the child had awoken. She was more of a morning person, enjoying the sunrise and the cooler air. Leaning back in her chair, she decided it would be best if Luna did the calming part. She didn't have much experience with that.
Sari nodded hurriedly, and slipped out of the bed, and her legs buckled. She stood back up, and a subconscious triumphant grin slid across her face for a brief second.
Watching her stand, Sora let a small grin form. It was always kind of cute to see newbies begin to feel comfortable in the Lo.
"I'm assuming you'll want to eat before we head out?" she asked from her current seat, arms loosely crossed.
Ramus' eyes slowly opened from a long night of worried rest. "The girl! She's up, that's plenty good." He said a voice much deeper than normal yet still with equal softness. "Has anyone made breakfast yet? I'm starved." He mumbled as he pushed his large frame out and off the wooden chair.
Suddenly, the door slams open. Antoine looked tired and in pain. He sets his staff down. "I heard there's a child amongst us." He says, pulling his hood off. "Sorry for such a late appearance."
"Worry not about that Antoine, you look like hell. Take the chair." Ramus pointed to the chair beside the bet that was still quite warm and comforting. "What has happened, was it a harbor?" He inquired
Gripping the arm of her chair. Sora did her best to refrain from getting angry at the mention of a harbor. Usually even they would never hurt a child this bad. There was always the exception though.
Luna looked quickly at Sari, who was beginning to look frightened again. "Will you all take this outside, please?" she asked in a low voice, looking pointedly at Sari. "And maybe we should talk about this later? We have a council meeting to get to. Ramus, can you make sure everyone is ready? Sari and I will be out shortly."
(Is it bad I wanna lowkey ship Luna and Sora?)
Sighing, Sora stood up and began to walk into the other room where the breakfast she had prepared was. "Come on boys, there's breakfast," she called.
"Right to it." Ramus replied as he left the small room in order to accumulate the others for the issue
(Alright so for a second I thought you meant Luna and Sari and I'm like umm?? Sari's like 10??? But that makes much more sense, yes, I'm totally down)
"I'm sorry about them," Luna said to Sari. "Scary things can go on in the forest, but like I said, we'll protect you. Now, are you hungry?"
Sari nodded eagerly, the colour beginning to return to her face after a night of rest. She shyly hobbled around the room, trying to get used to walking. "I'm very hungry." She stated quietly.
Luna smiled, making sure the girl was steady. "Alright stay here, I'll be right back." Luna went out the door and ran to catch up with Sora. "Sora!" she said, touching her on the shoulder, "Do you have any more food? Suri is hungry."
Turning when her name was called, Sora nodded. She of course had to make a decent amount to account for the entire council, but as well for the small child who apparently had not come with Luna. Nearly laughing to herself, she thought about how good a foster mother she would be for Sari.
It wasn't long till Ramus had told everyone he could find, once they were all warned he headed back to the council building. "They're warned, it will be a while till they come out of the woodwork but they know." He told the girls before he headed back to the room with the child.
Luna followed Sora to get food and saw a small smile form on Sora's face. "What are you smiling about?" she asked.
"Just thinking about how protective you are of the girl already," Sora replied. Standing by the table, she grabbed two plates, serving each one a decent amount of pancakes. Before handing Luna the plates, she drizzled a smiley face of syrup on one of them for the young girl's sake.
