"You don't have to you know. I don't expect you to, especially if it'll make your mom upset." Darren looked out the window.

Darren nodded, "Thank you… For everything." He started the car and drove to the hospital. He was so nervous by the time he got there that he pulled into the parking lot and just sat there.

(Question: Do you need boys or girls?)

(I think we're pretty even on both so whatever you want)

Darren stared at the building wide-eyed, "No" He said shakily but he got out of the car anyways.

The pair entered the hospital and checked in at the front desk where a nice lady named Dawn lead them to their room. Darren sat down on the bed and watched the clock tick. Every minute it rang out made him feel queasy, he just wanted to go home.

Darren's thumb had been twitching involuntarily for somewhere around 2 weeks but with the nerves, it was worse. He was desperate not to let Lillian see and so far it had been a success. He assumed it was a tick from the tumor.

He watched the clock, the minutes seemed to flow by quickly, too quickly, until eventually, it was time. Dr. Britian came in and began talking to Darren about how the surgery was going to work, but he didn't hear any of it. Suddenly he found himself no longer in a hospital room but instead being wheeled down a hallway. He looked at Lillian who was walking beside him, "Are you scared?"

The people wheeling the bed down the hallway stopped in front of doors that read 'OR'. "This is out stop." One of them had said.
Darren grabbed Lillian's hand so hard that he was afraid it hurt her, but he didn't lessen his grip, "Don't be scared," He tried a reassuring smile but it faded.
