Lloyd: throwing up and feeling like death I'm not sick)
Ben watched the movie in silence. This poor kid, I wish I could do something to help. This goes way beyond what i was thinking of when i came to join tech
Darren had looked away from Lillian. She was wondering what kind of tick that was. Nervous? Honesty? Wait lying. Lillian looked at him, "Darren, please don't lie. I thought you chose the musical?"
āWhat is it going to do for my future? Itās not going to get me a scholarship. It doesnāt help meā
(Rip Ben he just wanted to be a techie and now he's stuck taking care of a sick boi who's afraid of storms and knows nothing about human culture)
Lloyd tried to simultaneously figure out what the movie was and what it was about and ignore the storm. He could see the rain pounding on the windows in his peripheral, and occasionally flashes of lightning. Whenever lightning struck, he couldn't help but remember Sam and shudder.
Ben patter Lloyd on the back, not knowing how to calm him down. Maybe I could close the blinds so he doesnt notice the lightning.
Lillian looked at him sadly, "I guess then I don't have a priority. I don't earn you a scholarship, and we'll probably break up the moment we graduate. Probably since we'll be going to different colleges."
Just ignore itā¦ stupid, stupid, stupid! You're weak! And now Ben has to deal with youā¦ you're sick and afraid of a little rainā¦ he probably just wants to go homeā¦ Lloyd looked up at Ben apologetically, the circles under his eyes seeming to always grow ever darker.
āLillian please, donāt do this.ā Darren felt himself starting to cry. āI love you.ā
Ben noticed the sad (or at least he thinks) look in Lloyds eyes. "Come on dude! Cheer up, its your first movie." He grins. "Is there a store near by? I'll go buy popcorn if you want."
"Iā¦ I-I'm sorry that you're stuck with meā¦ really, y-you're welcome to go home. I-I wouldn't want to keep you here against your will.."
(I gtg to bed now. Byeeee)
(Night dude)
Lillianās heart weighed with guilt, āThen donāt lie to me. Please, I see the bruise, itās your dad isnāt it?ā
(Night!)
(Byeeeee)
"I'm not stuck with you man! I'm here cause I want to be. What are friends for?" Ben stood up and left Lloyd the computer, and left for popcorn.
Darren sighed āmaybe heās right though.ā He knew he wasnāt right but his dad had a way about getting in his head and always saying things like āwhat your mom thinkā.
Lillian looked him in the eyes, āDarren heās wrong. So very very wrong. Do you hear me? Heās wrong. Donāt give up on your wants and wishes because of how he feels.ā
Darren couldnāt bring himself to look at her a tear rolled down his face, āIām so tired of him, Lillian. I canāt do this anymore.ā
Lillian smiled softly, āI know, and I promise you that you wonāt have to.ā
āI canāt just leave him when high school is over. Iām the only person heās got, and itās easier to just give into him than to deal with what he does when I donātā
Lillian let out a small chuckle, āBut when itās all said and done who will you be? The Darren thatās his fatherās son? Or the Darren that followed his heart?ā
Darren nodded, "He does what he does to me because he's angry. He overworks himself for the same reason. The person he loved most left him and now he's just an angry person. It's hard to disobey someone like that Lillian.
Lillian hugged him, āI know. I really do, but please. Donāt just give up.ā
Darren sobbed into Lillian's shoulder, he didn't really know why he was crying though. All he knew was he was upset and she was there for him.
Lillian held her own tears in. She needed to be there for him. Despite the demon that was growing inside.
