The executioner ended it quick, setting fire to the wood at the base of the woman’s feet, and it quickly burst into flames. Lucia grimaced softly as she turned her head away, the woman’s screams of pain loud in her ears. She wanted to get out of the cheering crowd. Terrible humans. she nudged her way out of the crowd, glancing around.
The male looked around at the cheering people, disgust etched on his face. They actually enjoyed this. he shakes his head, grimacing at the sounds of the woman screaming, reminding him of his aunt. He looks anywhere but the sources of the screaming, the terrible smell of burning flesh entering his nose.
Lucia eventually broke away from the crowd, brushing off her blouse as she did so. She lowered her head slightly, hoping she wouldn’t get recognized by anyone. She looked too much like a younger version of her mother, who was a decently well known witch. Adjusting her glasses, she walked along the edges of the crowd in the direction of a forest.
Allen leaves as well, hissing swearwords under his breath. Those monsters… We are not evil, unlike them… he sighs softly as he starts to walk home, shaking his head. This was terrible. People dying left and right, all with an accusation.
(Sorry for vanishing, I went out to eat unexpectedly!)
Lucia’s hair had fallen across her eyes, so she barely noticed the man who had stepped right in front of her path before it was too late. She ran smack into them with a grunt, taking a few steps backwards. She managed to keep from falling, but the experience was still slightly mortifying. “God, I am so sorry, sir,” she said in a rushed tone, just wanting to leave.
He stumbles when he was run into, but straightens, "No, no. It's alright." He says, smiling a bit, "Are you alright miss?" He asks gently, dusting off his shoulders before glancing at her worriedly. Allen hums softly, plaving his hand on his hip, relaxing a bit.
Lucia gave a timid laugh, rubbing at the back of her neck in an embarrassed way. “I’m completely fine, I really need to watch where I’m going,” she said, glancing around. There was something about this man, in his aura. Could he have been an actual witch too? She didn’t want to ask, in case she was wrong or someone overheard.
He hums, glancing at her, his blue eyes flashing a bit in the sun light. He was curious about her. There was something different about her, not that he could place it. He gave off cold not warmth, so he had to be wary of others. He smiles, "No worries." He assures, "It's quite alright."
Lucia gave a brief, polite smile and a nod. “Well, uh, I should probably go,” she said, still glancing at the space around him as she took a step to move around him. She didn’t talk to many people. The man seemed nice, but there was the possibility he was some sort of magic user.
Allen nods, "Well, I bid you adue, miss." he bows to her before stepping aside so that she can walk past him. He hums, curiosity running through his veins as he gazes on the young woman.
Lucia gave a slight wave while quickening her pace as she walked. She had the urge to look back, get a glance at the man’s aura one last time. But she didn’t. She had seen quite enough. She walked into the woods, following a worn down trail, climbing over large branches and such that had fallen across the path. Eventually, she reached a small looking cabin, fingers trailing across the wards painted on a nearby tree. She dug a set of keys from her pocket, unlocking the front door to the cabin.
Allen hurries home, humming softly as he does so. He was exhausted and needed to get him mind off the execution. He comes home, unlocking his door, and entering his small home. It was risky, yes, for him to stay in the town, but he did. After all, this was his aunts home. He starts to make dinner.
Lucia, upon arrival, was greeted by something rubbing up against her legs. She looked down and looked down at the tabby cat, Anani. She smiled, crouching down to stroke the cat’s soft fur. “I’m sorry, girl. No treats for you today. I got caught up,” she said, giving the cat a pat. She straightened and walked into her kitchen, hummin a tune as she did so, beginning to make herself a bit of food.
Sugar mewls loudly upon his entering. He chuckles and leans down so he can pick up the kitten. "Hey there beautiful." he purrs, nuzzling her nose. She mewls softly and he smiles, petting her as he saunters to the kitchen.
Lucia hummed as she made her food, adding a bit of seasoning to the salad she was making. She didn’t want anything major. After seeing the execution, she didn’t want to eat anything too heavy, afraid she may get sick. She opened a cabinet, and took out a small bowl. Filling it with a bit of milk, she crouched and set it on a small mat for her cat. “There, Anani,” she said softly, stroking the cat as she drank.
He sighs after a minute, setting the spoon down. He wasn't hungry. the smell of burning flesh was still itching in his nose, still haunting him. He shudders, remembering the screams that escaped his aunts lips as she was burned alive. He sighs, placing his head in his hands.
Lucia walked over to her kitchen table, taking a seat. She ate her salad at a slow pace, mind clouded with thoughts. Her mind felt jumbled, jumping all over the place. First from who the woman was, then the execution, then the possible witch she met. She really couldn’t keep her thoughts straight.
The male was silent as he feeds his precious Sugar, humming under his breath as he did so. He needed to get his mind off everything. Perhaps sleep would do him some good. A tiny nap, maybe? Or maybe play with Sugar when she was done eating. He hums as he sits down, watching the grey cat eat her food.
Lucia finished around half of her food before deciding that she couldn’t eat anymore. She pushed up from her seat, walking over to the sink with her bowl. She dumped out what she didn’t eat into a trash bin before rinsing it out in a sink. She set the dish aside once she was done and leaned back against the countertop. It wasn’t too late yet, and she wasn’t tired. What was there to do around here?
Allen was silent, hissing under his breath as he rubs his temples. Maybe a nap was a good idea, but the images as the woman screamed was etched in his mind as he stands. He sighs, the best thing he could do at the moment was sit and wait.
Lucia ran her thumb up and down the locket hanging from her neck before letting it go and tucking it back under her light, olive green blouse. She gave Anani one last pat before stepping out the backdoor, grabbing her leather satchel on the way out. She decided on going to the willow tree. It was towards the center of the wooded area, and it had deeply sentimental meaning. It did happen to be the place where she had buried her child.
Allen hums, standing and stretching as he walks through his home to his room. He flops onto his bed, staring up at the ceiling, debating whether or not to take a nap or stay awake. He chose nap, and sighed softly as he tried to relax.
Lucia made her way down an unmarked path, eventually heading into a clearing. The willow tree was almost dead center, it’s drooping branches and leaves providing the perfect amount of cover and shade.
His eyes flutter open and closed as he rests, unsure about the decision of sleeping. When he had nightmares, they were pretty bad, but he was so sleep deprived and exhausted, it was all he could do to keep his eyes from closing.
Lucia pushed the drooping branches back, setting her back down slowly at the base of the tree. She took a seat on one of the roots that was sticking up out of the dirt, legs stretched out. She dug through her bag, taking out her families spell book. The book went back at least six generations in her family. There were many spells, but she hasn’t even learned half of them yet.
